I didn't meet Denice but she will live on as a role model for me. I am involved heavily in the diversity experience at my company. Great spirits like her's can not be forgotten on the road to inclusion.
We will carry her memory forward and remember her in our work both in scientific discovery and diversity.

I was stunned and saddened to hear of Denice's death. What a terrible loss for women in science and for higher education as a whole. I met Denice when she headed a University of Washington search committee on which I served. Her leadership qualities were superb, and I sought her advice on other occasions after the search was over. She will remain an inspiration to me and so many others.

I knew Denice when we were both undergrads at MIT. She was a very interesting and vibrant person. She seemed wise beyond her years because she knew what she wanted and didn't get lost amidst the pressures and distractions that face all first year college students. She will be missed.

My heartfelt prayers and thoughts go to Gretchen who is suffering an unimaginable loss. May all Denice's family and friends find peace in this difficult time. Take care of yourselves as Denice would want you to.
