Mrs. B or Dolores was my friend and neighbor for over forty years. She always impressed me with her intelligence. When Dolores taught Biology at Sheppard, I think she was in her glory. She always had something she was working on for “her students” to stimulate and make them continue developing the project after she took it to school. Equally impressive to me was that she had grace and refinement and whomever she was with benefited from it.

I met Dolores through her oldest sont, George, whom I dated at Santa Clara University 45 years ago. She was a charming, warm and welcoming woman. She was so proud of her sons, a loving mother who delighted in the accomplishments of her children. A highly educated woman, she enjoyed discussing the issues of the day in the late 60s. She was a good judge of character but never judgemental.

"Mama's" (as I always called her) eldest son George (now deceased) was my roommate in college, and through him I met his mother, late in 1964. My own mother died in January, 1965 and Dolores quickly became "Mama" to me. When I came to Canada in 1969 we corresponded and continued to do so for as long as she was able. Mama was also a good friend to my wife Sally, who she was able to meet in 1968. We will always miss her.
