Scott and Kathleen,
You both raised an amazing son. The core values he had were learned from a young age. I will keep your family in my prayers for a long, long time. It was an honor to meet him and have my daughter train at Great Lakes with him. He was respected as a leader there and in Pensacola among the young sailors.
As sad as these last few days have been, it was a wonderful tribute to John's life. It really helped to just be together and hold and cry together. This family will only get stronger and closer because of this horrible loss. We will always miss John.
I am very sorry for the family of Jhon. I wish for you to gladly make it through your loss. I am 10 years old, Mary Beth. <3
My deepest sympathies are with your Family, and Friends. Taken too soon! I pray your loved ones find the strength they need to deal with your tragic loss. There are no words that can convey how sorry we are for your loss. May cherished memories bring you peace and comfort and healing.
I did not know the family or John but I do know one thing that comes from John 15:13 - Greater LOVE has no one than to lay down one's life for his friends and because of this I know that John is now in the right hands. I am deeply sorry for the loss the family has endured. God Bless all.
My heart and prayers are with you and your family.
To the Larimers and Lavins, I know that a big part of you died on that day. I only wish that I had met john when he was out here. I know that I would have seen in him, what I saw in his family: a love for life and family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Prayers for your family from ours
Dear family, my embraces and deepest compassion for you in this terrible time of grieving and the emptiness after John died. May we all have some of his courage and compassion that the world so badly needs. He is gone too soon, too soon.
Kathy and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. John was a true hero. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen. Prayer of St. Francis RIP Hero
My deepest condolences to John's family and friends. Losing John this way is truly unimaginable and I know he will be missed forever. Always keep the good, happy and joyful times near your heart and in your mind. One day you will be able to think of John with a smile and not a tear. It will take along time, I will keep you in my prayers. I will pray for your strength.
I never knew John personally, but I have been friends with Colin and Beth for years. May peace be with you and your family during this troubled time.
It saddens me that such a brave man who fought for us all was taken so early. My prayers are with the family and friends. John will not be forgotten
Dear Larimer family, Our hearts are saddened to hear of the tragic loss of your son, John. We can only imagine the pain and sorrow that you are experiencing. Although we did not know him personally we remember seeing John compete in the Mr. CLS pageant along with our son, Josh. Our family is praying for you.
I never knew John, but his aunt, Randee Larimer is my friend who I love dearly. My love and prayers are with the Larimer Family at this time of their loss.
John is the golden rose, and the water in God's healing hands is our tears.
Dear Larimer Family,
I remember John being a very laid-back and funny guy at Crystal Lake South, so I was shocked and saddened to hear that he died so needlessly. I cannot imagine the pain you are all feeling right now and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
John, thank you for serving to protect your loved ones and your country.
Dear Larimer Family and friends:
To listen to the tragic news of last Friday's events was overwhelming; knowing that one of our city's own was lost made it that much harder. I lost a 19 yr-old brother when he was in the Navy. He was not at war, either, yet it was a heart breaking loss nonetheless.
My prayers and thoughts go out to you and all those who knew and loved John. God Bless and be with you all.
Dear Larimer family, We are so sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for serving our country, rest in peace and god bless you John.
Dear Larimer Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. You are a wonderful family. I have fond memories of teaching 3 of your 5 children at Coventry School. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you all.
My heart goes out to you during this difficult time, especially under such terrible circumstances. I didn't know John personally, but we have many mutual friends, and Mrs. Price was my sister's math teacher at HHS. Having moved to this area only four years ago, I'm overwhelmed by the sense of community and the support of friends and strangers. Please let their memories of John provide you comfort and pride that so many people, such as myself, wish they could have known him.
Extremely saddened by the senseless act
that took your life. Peace be with you.
I am so so sorry John this happened to you. I wish there was something I could do to bring you back. May God be with you and comfort you.
I didn't know John personally but after reading all about him and watching the news he is a hero and will be very missed. Just remember he will always be looking down on the family and smiling.
My heart goes out to Johns family & friends & all the other families involved in this horrible tragedy. May God grant you strength and courage to get through this tragic time.
My heart just breaks for you and your family. I am so sad and still stunned to learn that one of your boys is involved in this horrible tragedy. He will forever be in our hearts and you and your family in my prayers.
I did not know John nor the family but my heart breaks for all of you. Such a tragedy.
From everything I have read, John sounds like an exceptional young man, and the world was a better place because of him. Having lost a child, I can sympathize with your pain and the unbelievable grief you must be feeling right now. Let our community help you. My wish is for you to find peace. We will never forget you, John.
As former residents of Crystal Lake, we know that the community will embrace and keep you in their hearts. We pray that the Larimer family can find peace in the knowledge that John will continue to watch over you. Rest in Peace John -- you are a hero in the eyes of many.
To the Larimer Family, once again, please know how deeply sad we are for you. John was a wonderful young man. We regret we cannot attend the visitation tomorrow. Being in Phoenix, we are grateful to have WGN out here. We made sure to watch the news video of John's solemn arrival at O'Hare, and respectful procession to Crystal Lake. Seeing the streets lined with many sad faces and flags made the tears flow again. Our hearts continue to break for you. Times like this makes me homesick for home and Crystal Lake friends and neighbors.
You made me proud to call you my nephew. Always in my heart. RIP John

I remember John from Coventry Elementary where we were classmates. I do not know how or why such malevolence finds the innocent and unsuspecting such as John, only to say that his heroism is a testament to what is good and righteous. I pray the Larimer family finds peace.
Please accept my deepest sympathies. I worked with John at Regal years back, and I will never forget the guy who hardly ever stopped smiling. A true hero, never to be forgotten.

Larimer Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember John as a toddler from my childhood when I went to school with Nora, and I also clearly remember your entire family's strength and integrity. You were always all such caring, wonderful people. I'm so sad for your loss and for the loss of John. I also remember him from my first year teaching at South. Even though I didn't have him in class, I knew of John because everyone knew him. He was that great of a guy. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Dear Mr. Latiner, as a fellow Navyman who served in the Naval Security Group for 12 years on both active duty and the reserve as both an enlisted man and a commissioned officer, words cannot express my sadness at your loss of life in Aurora, CO. The Navy will always need good men like you, especially in the Naval Security Group. Thank you for volunteering to serve our Country most especially in the area of communications. John had a smile and humor that always lit the room. He comes from a family that my husband John and I want to emulate in the way they truly loved one another! John will be missed but I am glad to have known him and his family. May God wrap his arms around you and shower you with His love during this difficult time.

I always worry that good men don't exist any more. It is a true tragedy that such a good person is taken so early in his life. I hope that his final act of heroism is remembered and effects as many lives as possible so that more people will think of others rather than only being concerned for them selves. I know that his story has inspired me to be a better person and I can only hope that it has done the same for others.
"The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep..." -Robert Frost
Grief is so personal--I wish you moments of peace in the wake of the trauma you have experienced. As the pain of your loss ebbs and flows, please know that you are supported by family, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers who all feel pain from this tragedy. You are loved.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God Bless you!
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Larimer family. My grandson, Cory is a friend of Johns and was to be there with his friends but overslept. I know how much he is hurting to have lost a good friend. I also understand that John is related to the Lavin family in Wonder Lake. Their grandma Ann was one of my Mom's closest friends so this truly hits me close. May God wrap His arms around all of you at this very difficult time. I lost my husband 11 months ago and it seems as if it's getting harder to handle so just know it does get worse before better. For me I know I will eventually join Him in Heaven when the time comes. God please let the Larimer's truly feel Your presence.
