Joe was always the kind of person willing to help regardless of circumstance. By far the nicest person I have ever had the pleasure to know. His talent, his personality will be missed. My condolences.
Dear Pratt family, not a day has passed that you aren't in my thoughts. May time bring you peace and help heal your broken hearts.
My family & I did not know you, but were deeply saddened when we came upon the aftermath of your accident. After seeing and reading the touching memorial at the scene, we are so sorry that this world has lost a caring and bright soul. Our wishes and positive energy go out to the family during this difficult time.
We didn't know you or your family but live close by the accident and drive through that intersection daily. We think of you every day as we travel through there. My son is 25 and it breaks my heart for the family for such a loss. Please know you are in our hearts.
Walter,Joanie & Cassie, We wish for you all Courage, Strength, Hope & Prayers to get through this Heart breaking time. With Love Always, Cousin Carlo and Emma.
There hasn't been a day that goes by that I don't think of you and your family.
I went to high school with Joe, and he was one of the few highlights of those years. He was a man who wasn't afraid to be himself and that is a rarity in this world. Joe, I hope you bring as much joy to the next world as you did in this one.
My heart goes out to the entire Pratt family. A young mans life has ended way too soon. God bless the Pratt family and give them the strength they need to make it through this difficult time.
We had the pleasure to meet Joe this past summer with our son Brett. They were making plans to attend San Jose State together and we took the opportunity that day to tour the campus. We were so impress with Joe and liked him immediately. It breaks our heart that we've lost such a talented and kind-hearted young man. Our prayers go out to his family and friends.

Our deepest sympathy is extended to young Joseph Pratt's Mother and Father and his younger sister, Cassie. All of us here at Saint Peter Martyr School send our prayers to the Pratt Family. Joseph was a kind and generous young man.
I so vividly recall attending Joseph's and Cassie's First Communion with Father Helmut at Good Shepherd Parish Church in Pittsburg. Cassie was a fourth grade student then. Joseph was her older brother on the upper grade side.
As parents, siblings, classmates, and teachers we were blessed to have Joseph with us for twenty-five years.
May all of us treasure the time we had with Joseph. May time and happier memories help to ease your great sorrow. May you gather strength from your faith and the love of your community to go forward remembering the joy and happiness you shared as Joseph's family. Continue to celebrate Joseph's life. Speak of Joe often; sharing your stories, laughter, and tears. It is in the remembering that we find the strength to go on.
May the peace of Jesus surround and hold you as you continue your life's journey, knowing that one day you will all be with Joseph eternally.
With our deepest sympathy,
All the families, staff, and teachers of Saint Peter Martyr School. October 9, 2012

To the Pratt family, I have known Walt for over 20 years and through him I have learned about his son. Walt enjoyed telling me about the past projects and a future project they would be doing together. It was a joy to see the sparkle in Walt's eyes when he spoke about his son.

RIP Joe. Your passing has left an impact in my life, although I dont know you or your family but I feel the pain and pray for your loved ones and the city of Oakley maybe this will bring us together to care for eachother, pray, and drive safer. Love you and your loved ones from a neighbor who drives everyday that intersection
Joe was our next door neighbor, the son in a family of instant friends when we moved to Oakley in 2011. We knew him mostly as the nice friendly young man who lived next door and was always willing to help out. I talked to Joe outside his house on Thursday, we laughed over something trivial and he flashed his beautiful smile. He was always kind and well-mannered and I often told my friends about the great family next door and how nice their son and daughter were -- just really great kids. We will miss Joe and are so saddened that such a beautiful and talented young man was taken too soon. We are so glad we got to know you a bit Joe! Love and more love to the Pratt Family.
I'm sorry this happened, we will love you always.
Even thought I didn't know Joe intimately, this tragic outcome made a shock wave in the online communities he was into. My thoughts are with the family and friends of his. May he be immortalized in all those good memories.
Words can't begin to express the sadness I feel for Joseph, his friends and his family. Love, thoughts and prayers to all.
