I had the privilege of working side by side with Ken at OFMA. We shared many grueling hours on the phones. He always found a way to lighten the mood and make us all smile. I followed the tragic events as they unfolded. I am thinking of the Youngstrom family as we begin this Thanksgiving holiday. I am thankful to have known a genuine hero.
October 21, 2012
My deepest sympathy to the family. I am widow of CHP officer Charles Coleman #2060.
October 10, 2012
My dad is a retired CHP officer. He had the grave yard shift. It was Xmas Eve. My dad switched shifts with a buddy of his because his buddy wanted to be home on Xmas morning. My dads buddy was shot to death that night.

I am sorry for your loss. I do not know the suffering and pain your family are experiencing.

Just know that officer youngstrom is a hero and I empathize in your loss.
September 22, 2012
RIP Kenyon! Mrs. Youngstrom and family, I am so sorry for your loss!!
September 20, 2012
Mrs. Youngstrom,
Please accept my deepest sympathy. I want to thank Officer Youngstrom for protecting us and all the other brave men that wear their uniform proudly everyday. Also thank you for donating his organs so others good have a chance for a healthy life.

Alex your Dad must've been smiling down from heaven listening to you tell a huge room full of people how much your Dad meant to you. We got to see the man out of uniform. Just a proud Dad that obviously loved his family & you all loved him back. Relaxed watching his favorite football team & doing his funny touchdown dance. You must've inherited your Dad's ability to speak to a crowd because in spite of your pain, you were very poised. Your Dad may not be with you in the flesh but he will be with you in spirit always. Also keep believing in Jesus and he to will help guide you through your life. God bless your family.

R I P MY BROTHER
September 18, 2012
IN LOVING MEMORY

Although an International boundary seperated us and we had never met you were my Brother, my family!!
As soon as you put on the uniform, pinned on the badge, and swore the oath you became part of the largest and most loving
families in the world..the Thin Blue Line family... and you will be forever remembered and loved as long as I draw breath.
And you can rest peacefully my Brother as we are watching over your loved ones, your friends, your co-workers, because that is what family does....we look out for each other...
We are here to take up the fight that you so dearly loved and we shall all make you proud...

And I'm not ashamed to say that I will shed a tear when your name is mentioned..as you are my beloved Brother and I miss you..
And what gives me the courage to go on is knowing that when my time comes you will be waiting for me with open arms in

Mrs. Kenyon Youngstrom and Children,
I have not had the honor of meeting you, but I want you to know I am praying for you. It is heartbreaking to lose a husband and father so suddenly. As the weeks and months go by, I will keep you in my prayers. I thought I would share some rememberences of Kenyon I have. My family lived one street over from him when he was in elementary, middle, and high school. I remember how good looking the girls thought he was, how funny he could be and yet how serious he come become when needed. He was polite and respectful as a teenager so I was not surprised when he "grew up" and became a Godly role model for his own children. May God comfort you in the days and weeks ahead as you face life without your husband and father.
September 09, 2012
Sorry for your loss.
September 09, 2012

TO THOSE I LOVE
AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

When I am gone, release me. let me go, I have so many things to see and do, you mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love. You can only guess how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown. But now it's time I travel alone. So grieve a while for me, if you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while we must part. So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need be, call and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear all my love around soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and
"Welcome Home"

From a Concord Police Volunteer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.

To the family of Officer Youngstrom, thank you. Thank you for giving us Kenyon. Please take comfort in knowning you do not grieve alone. The law Enforcement community, as well as public at large grieve with you. You have paid the price that those of us that carry a badge hope our families never have to pay. You have our eternal gratitude. I know words like gratitude, and hero, that you will hear so often over the next few weeks, will mean something more to you in the future but do little to ease the pain you're now experiencing. You will get through this. I know you have the strength to do this. I know it because you've already shown how strong you are. You are a law enforcement family, and as one you've had no easy job even at the best of times. Kenyon is a hero for what he stood for and the sacrifices that he made. You all are heros for the exact same reasons.
September 06, 2012

As a 37 year-old father of 3 daughters, and a former Concord cop, I am touched deeply by this loss. I hope everyone reading this understands that police officers love their jobs, not because they get to arrest people, or drive fast, or can make a decent retirement. Cops love their jobs out of a sense of pride. I am sure this young man was the same. Please pray for those poor lil children and their mother and family. Please appreciate police officers, not just when you need them, but ALL THE TIME. Cops don't get to pick and choose which calls they go to.

Rest in peace, young man.

September 05, 2012
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
September 05, 2012
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
