I love you Mom and miss you so very much!!

“A Prayer” Carmelite Monastery, Tallow, County Waterford, Ireland

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other we still are. Call me by my old familiar name; speak to me in the easy way which we always used. Put no difference in your tone; wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh, as we always laughed at the little jokes together.

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effort, without a trace of shadow in it.

Life means all that it ever meant; it is the same as it ever was. There is absolutely unbroken continuity. What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past, nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before ~ only better, infinitely happier and forever ~ we will all be together with God

As tearful eyes clear, we begin to see that simply through the miracle of having been born from our mothers, each child carries within him a precious gift... a unique part of that mother which will always remain with them. We can honor and celebrate her life in our demonstrations of love toward one another knowing that God, in His infinite love for us, remains ever by our sides as we struggle toward healing. Diane, you will be missed. I can still hear the soft lilt of your voice... a calm, sweet, soothing sound among a bustling world. That is how I will remember you.

Though she will most certainly be missed, she will always have a special place in the hearts and minds of all of us who knew and loved her in this life. May she rest in peace with the Lord.

Mom lived each day with purpose, love, and passion facing each challenge with serenity born of her strong faith. We are forever grateful for the many gifts our mother gave us, especially her boundless love and support, and for the example she set of a life well lived in the service of others. Mom was beautiful, brave, strong, and good, and the lessons she taught us will help us go forward as we mourn her loss and strive to honor her in our actions and in our lives. Holding you close in my heart Mom, till we meet again!
