Jack Newton

Resident of San Jose
Jack Newton, 81, passed away Sep. 15, 2012. He is survived by his sister Marlene (Lloyd) Benson; brother, Ed (Patricia) Newton; nieces; great-nephew; extended family and friends.
Jack was born in Chicago and he moved to San Francisco with his family in 1943, and later to San Jose. After graduating from San Jose High School, Jack served four years in the Navy during the Korean War before joining the San Jose Fire Department where he retired as an Engineer after 27 years of service. He made many new friends in recent years residing at Belmont Village and attending Skills Plus. Jack was an avid auto and motorcycle enthusiast and a gifted artist and photographer. He enjoyed Peet's coffee, jazz music and studying the Bible. He was also known for his generosity, crazy antics and collecting. Jack will be greatly missed and will be remembered by family, friends and associates for his uniquely profound outlook on life and unconventional sensibilities. Private services have been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Jose Firefighters Burn Foundation, San Jose Fire Museum, Skills Plus of Santa Clara or charity of your choice.
