Raveesh Kumra was born September 20th, 1946 in Kartharpur, India and passed away on November 30th, 2012 in Monte Sereno, California. He emigrated to the United States in 1970, fresh with his degree in chemical engineering from the esteemed IIT Delhi and eventually settled in the Bay Area. He was one of the first Indian-born entrepreneurs in the wireless industry; and started several cellular companies in the US. with successful bets on emerging telecommunications trends. He was one of the quietest angel investors in Silicon Valley; never turning down a request for help and ever-generous to his friends in need.
He was a true original#8212;a business maverick, a rare mind, bold actor, visionary thinker.
His intellect was abounding. He loved philosophy and politics, and thrived on learning. He had friends around the world who grieve his loss and were touched by his special brand of gregarious debate. Few will forget his 2 a.m. 2000-word e-mails , ranging from politics, to religion, to mathematics and music.
He loved entertaining and music, and would get so carried away by his favorite songs that he couldn't help but play them on the keyboard. Fortunately for everyone, he possessed perfect pitch.
His memory lives on with his wife, Rani, whom he married in Ludhiana, India in 1974 and by his daughters Raina and Anisha, his brothers Bharat Kumra and Rajesh Kumra, his sister Renu Duggal, and his father Ram Kishan Kumra.

Kympha was always close to me at IIT. We went to Alwaye Kerela together during 1966. AS my neighbour in Hostel, his flute practice inspired me to pick up playing flute.
Please accept my heartfelt condolense. May his departed sould rest in peace. Pray to The Almighty to give you the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
