I had the privilege of working side by side with Ken at OFMA. We shared many grueling hours on the phones. He always found a way to lighten the mood and make us all smile. I followed the tragic events as they unfolded. I am thinking of the Youngstrom family as we begin this Thanksgiving holiday. I am thankful to have known a genuine hero.

My dad is a retired CHP officer. He had the grave yard shift. It was Xmas Eve. My dad switched shifts with a buddy of his because his buddy wanted to be home on Xmas morning. My dads buddy was shot to death that night.

I am sorry for your loss. I do not know the suffering and pain your family are experiencing.

Just know that officer youngstrom is a hero and I empathize in your loss.

Mrs. Youngstrom,
Please accept my deepest sympathy. I want to thank Officer Youngstrom for protecting us and all the other brave men that wear their uniform proudly everyday. Also thank you for donating his organs so others good have a chance for a healthy life.

Alex your Dad must've been smiling down from heaven listening to you tell a huge room full of people how much your Dad meant to you. We got to see the man out of uniform. Just a proud Dad that obviously loved his family & you all loved him back. Relaxed watching his favorite football team & doing his funny touchdown dance. You must've inherited your Dad's ability to speak to a crowd because in spite of your pain, you were very poised. Your Dad may not be with you in the flesh but he will be with you in spirit always. Also keep believing in Jesus and he to will help guide you through your life. God bless your family.

R I P MY BROTHER
September 18, 2012
IN LOVING MEMORY

Although an International boundary seperated us and we had never met you were my Brother, my family!!
As soon as you put on the uniform, pinned on the badge, and swore the oath you became part of the largest and most loving
families in the world..the Thin Blue Line family... and you will be forever remembered and loved as long as I draw breath.
And you can rest peacefully my Brother as we are watching over your loved ones, your friends, your co-workers, because that is what family does....we look out for each other...
We are here to take up the fight that you so dearly loved and we shall all make you proud...
You fought the good fight with dignity, pride and honor, and that is the making of a true hero, a brother, a loved one...
And I'm not ashamed to say that I will shed a tear when your name is mentioned..as you are my beloved Brother and I miss you..
And what gives me the courage to go on is knowing that when my time comes you will be waiting for me with open arms in
the roll call room above and say, "Welcome Brother..I have saved a place at St. Micheals table for you, and now we can catch up
on what I have missed"....
Sleep peacefully Blue Angel as you have earned your rest....and I and every LEO worldwide love you, miss you, and shall never ever forget you.......
You are loved now and forever by your Thin Blue Line family..you always will be..
Rest my Brother..you have earned it....
I love you..... I miss you....
Your Brother in Blue.....

My deepest sympathies to the Wife, Children, Family, and Friends of Officer Youngstrom. This was a very senseless and tragic incident. God Bless all of you for the organ donations that have saved the lives of others. I am the Mother of a CHP Officer, Martinez, and my Son's safety has always been a personal worry. Blessings also to the other Officer involved. This has to be a hard time for him also.
