I had the distinct pleasure to meet the Late, Great Jimmy McCracklin through Mark Naftalin, Producer of the Blue Monday Foundation, 15 years ago, when I partnered with him to produce the Marin City Blues, Jazz & Soul Party in the Park. Jimmy was our first performer...and I am proud to state he performed last year around his 90th birthday celebration, with many of his Bay Area Blues Legends, like Joe Louis Walker, Curtis Lawson, Fillmore Slim, Bobbie Webb, Henry Oden, Steve Gannon and many many more. I went to visit him for his 91st Birthday with California Red at the Care Facility and so glad I did visit him at least that one time. His memory was still good , as a matter of fact, he asked me about him performing next year and told me to talk to his daughter Sue about his pay....I am so proud to have known him and to this date, our non profit organization has launched our Blues in the School program to continue honoring Bay Area legends and to educate our youth about this great history. www.marincityblues.org
