Hi John,
The tragic events in Aurora, CO left a bad taste in my mouth. This was as devastating as it gets, especially in a post 9/11 world.

You could not have died in vain while watching a Batman film that night in 2012. I am just terribly sorry you passed away.

It's almost a year since this outstanding young man and others lost their lives in that horrific incident. John was about the same age as my youngest son and the incident tore through my heart. I too will always remember this young man.

I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time in boot camp with larimer. You really get to know someone when you sit up all night shining shoes and writing down general orders. He's a great human being and the world needs people like him. Thoughts and prayers to your family big guy. Your a true man who will protect the people he loves at all costs. I aspire to be the man you were. Div. 145!

Scott and Kathleen,
You both raised an amazing son. The core values he had were learned from a young age. I will keep your family in my prayers for a long, long time. It was an honor to meet him and have my daughter train at Great Lakes with him. He was respected as a leader there and in Pensacola among the young sailors.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen. Prayer of St. Francis RIP Hero

Dear Larimer Family and friends:
To listen to the tragic news of last Friday's events was overwhelming; knowing that one of our city's own was lost made it that much harder. I lost a 19 yr-old brother when he was in the Navy. He was not at war, either, yet it was a heart breaking loss nonetheless.
My prayers and thoughts go out to you and all those who knew and loved John. God Bless and be with you all.

Larimer family,

My heart goes out to you during this difficult time, especially under such terrible circumstances. I didn't know John personally, but we have many mutual friends, and Mrs. Price was my sister's math teacher at HHS. Having moved to this area only four years ago, I'm overwhelmed by the sense of community and the support of friends and strangers. Please let their memories of John provide you comfort and pride that so many people, such as myself, wish they could have known him.

To the Larimer Family, once again, please know how deeply sad we are for you. John was a wonderful young man. We regret we cannot attend the visitation tomorrow. Being in Phoenix, we are grateful to have WGN out here. We made sure to watch the news video of John's solemn arrival at O'Hare, and respectful procession to Crystal Lake. Seeing the streets lined with many sad faces and flags made the tears flow again. Our hearts continue to break for you. Times like this makes me homesick for home and Crystal Lake friends and neighbors.
