Lyle Farrow Obituary

Lyle Farrow
Sept. 13, 1915 - Feb. 26, 2014
Resident of Saratoga
Lyle was born in Minnesota to Edna and Charles Farrow. His father was in the automobile business selling Maxwell (Jack Benny's favorite) and Chevrolet. Lyle graduated from Little Falls High School and the University of Minnesota with a degree in accounting.
At the age of 23 he married his high school sweetheart Genevieve Thelander. Their union produced two children, a daughter Bonnie living in San Jose California and son Charles (Chuck) living in Tampa Florida.
Lyle went into the Motion Picture Theater business in a small town in Western Minnesota. During World War II he was deployed to New Guinea, the Philippines and the occupation of Japan as a member of the 32nd Infantry Division. After World War II he became a Chevrolet dealer with farm equipment sales and continued with the theater business.
Lyle and Genevieve with their two young children moved to San Jose California in 1953 to find greater business opportunities. After owning and operating a successful car business he became a Real Estate Broker with an office in nearby Campbell. The family lived in San Jose and Los Gatos before retirement. In 2001 Lyle and Genevieve moved to The Saratoga Retirement Community in Saratoga California. Genevieve, the love of his life, passed away in 2006 after 66 years of marriage.
While at the Saratoga Retirement Community he was active on several committees including serving as Resident Council President. He also led resident exercise and bingo groups. Going back to his theater roots, he showed movies for the residents two nights a week in the media room.
He passed away suddenly and is survived by his children, his beloved younger sister Shirley Jane (Farrow) Arvidson of Little Falls Minnesota, along with several nieces and nephews.
Lyle will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. All those lucky enough to have been a part of his long and diverse life will remember his easy nature, kind spirit and generous soul. He will be sorely missed.
As per Lyle's request no memorial service will be held. Arrangements by The Neptune Society of San Jose.
