Yesterday would have been your 85th birthday. Miss you, Daddy-o. It is such a joy to know you are remembered and loved by so many. I will always remember your big booming laugh; you'd laugh till tears wet your cheeks. All those summers on the deck at K's, shooting pool on the cracked pool table, walks under the stars, wine and cheese at sunset. Thank God for allowing me to know and love the best dad a girl could have!

Bill and Mariyn and I go back to our undergrad days at Cal. I knew he was a special man then. I was so happy to learn he would become the Superintendent of the Mountain View School District. He brought good vibes and great spirit to the position. The very year he came, I "graduated" from the Whisman School District Board to the MVLAUHSD Board and we kept in touch. Bill left the world and many, many people of all ages so much better because of how he touched their lives. Education was his calling. We are all so fortunate he followed that path.

Love,
Joan (Cherney) MacDonald (& Barby Cherney Ulmer ) Cal '51

I will remember Dr. Grafft with great respect and affection.
He treated all of his staff and teachers with a caring attitude.
It was an honor to teach under his leadership. He made us all feel valued and important as educators. He will be missed.
