David Thielges Obituary

David Harold Thielges, the son of James and Patricia Thielges was born on March 27, 1965.
Dave grew up in Emmett, Idaho, where he attended Emmett High School. Throughout his youth, and his time at Emmett High School, Dave was active in all sports; but there was one that he loved and excelled in most: football. Dave had a prolific football career at Emmett, receiving the Dean Deen award for most valuable player his senior year, 1983.
Aside from football, however, Dave loved his family and friends dearly and was an avid hunter and fisherman. After high school, Dave attended the University of Idaho, where he received his bachelor's degree. In 1992, Dave married Cathy Leamy. Soon after their marriage, they had a son, Ryan David Thielges. Although Dave and Cathy went their separate ways, Dave remained a constant figure in Ryan's life until his passing on April 2, 2013.
Dave knew how to have fun but he also loved and cared for his family and friends with a deep passion. His legacy remains in his son Ryan and all of the fond memories that those who knew and loved him will always hold close to their hearts.
David is survived by his mother, Patricia; his son, Ryan; his brothers and sisters, Richard, Jimmie, Robert, Priscilla, Karen and their families.
A celebration of David's life will be held at Cobblestone Park in Emmett, Idaho, on April 27, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. If there is inclement weather, the celebration will be held in Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Emmett Idaho. Please, bring your lawn chairs, your fond memories and your appetite as we celebrate the life of Dave Thielges.
Memorials in David's name can be made to Emmett High School or Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, Emmett, Idaho.

Memories and Condolences
for David Thielges

Not sure what to say?

I went to HS with Dave and have wonderful memories. We were part of a certain bunch who frequented concerts in Boise, tubing the Payette, cruising Main, and the list goes on. Our shared claim to fame in our Senior yearbook was "Best Legs" hahaha! We shared a back fence when we lived in Emmett and learned to love his family. After graduation, Dave was always so good to keep in touch. I went to Idaho State University and he was due north in Moscow. I regret not keeping the lines more open, a lesson I will never forget from now on. Dave, I will always remember you for many things and thank you for being a part of my life. I love you and I'll see ya when I see ya.

Thielges Family
I watched David and Shawn grow up together, so it hurts to see David pass at such a young age. He was like a big brother to Teffany and he was always welcome at the Soper house.
He was probably one of the best football studs to ever play in Emmett and it was amazing to watch him play.
We had a great time reminishing at the lower Dam saturday and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To David's Family - May you be comforted during this difficult time. We will all forever miss him. I just can't imagine our group of friends ever being the same without him here. He was truly one of a kind with such a good heart. I appreciated his smile and the joy he brought to the room when he entered and how he made every gathering more memorable. I will always treasure the times we spent together and feel blessed to have known him and been a part of his life. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

David was like a teddy bear... his smile could light up the darkest room. Although his life was cut short, the time I knew David will always be cherished.. His dedication to football was like a teenager to his I-phone. David and I would always giggle about that Ace Ventura Movie Pet Detective. In the ending they two would joke about Laces in or Laces out. David always agreed that laces out would be the appropriate way for a girl to throw a ball. I, being the ex-rugby player would look at him with my googly eyes and say, "No David, LACES IN", we would laugh for hours...so as I sit in my lawn chair this weekend I will have my laces out..in memory of my dear friend. Ryan, you and I have never met, but your father would talk so highly of you and made him proud for keeping your head straight. David made a promise to me that you will always keep the laces in and when you teach those children, Laces shall always remain in:) He always wanted to walk on the moon. Well good buddy, you made it! Remember David, it's one step for man-kind, with one leap of joy for you! Don't forget to smile so we can watch you light up the night sky.
Farewell my big teddy bear!

Deeply saddened by the news of Dave's passing. To Dave's family - I hope you find comfort, as I do, in the wonderful memories of his smile, his laughter and his magnetism that drew so many people and brightened their lives. His antics and the fun he had with so many people are the what will keep his spirit alive among his friends.

My sympathy to David's family. David was my classmate in Emmett and he was always laughing. I don't remember him unhappy. When I think of David, I think of him playing football and being the "hunk" all the girls swooned over. We have lost one of the good ones! My prayers go out to Ryan and all of David's family.

So sorry to hear about David's passing. I have such wonderful memories of David. We spent many a late night talking in High School, and early on in college. I will always remember his ability to lead without trying, or wanting to for that matter. People just followed David, did what he did, wanted to be around him, and wanted to be his friend. He just had an engaging personality that really brought people together. Every time I think back about my experiences at Emmett High, I fondly think of David being at the core or center of whatever was going on. I miss seeing that bow legged #15. Not sure how many times I've told the story about David wanting Levi's 501 jeans and having his mom shop for him, and bringing the wrong kind of jeans home. All the stories from the football field, hunting, fishing, and swimming. David was a gifted athlete, I remember him running for his life on the Optimist Green team, people said he was a good scrambler, I just remember he had to be to keep from being flattened. Then watching him mature into a Varsity player as a Sophomore, and then of course coming into his own as the star athlete he was.

His gift went way beyond the field though, he brightened every room he ever walked into, and was accepted by all. When I think of David, I always see him surrounded by his friends, especially Greg, Mark, and Tony. Seems like back in the day you couldn't have one without the other three. I'll miss our talks Thee-Gal-Lees, I'll miss your smiling face and your friend to all attitude. You were one of a kind Dave!

Thoughts and prayers go out to Ryan, who he was so proud of, and to the rest of the family, and especially ALL of David's friends, there were so many! Peace be with you David.

Ryan, we are very sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. Know you made him so proud and added so much to his life. We know you are a great "kid" and we know what that means to a parent.

Feel the love and support from your family and friends, and let all of the memories of your Dad bring you comfort and smiles. He will be with you always, watching over you and enjoying your adventures and successes.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do. Love and hugs to you.

It seems that words are so inadequate to express how saddened I am about the loss of David. He had and will always maintain such a special place in my heart. We shared so many adventures and great times over the years and I will treasure each and every memory. We didn't get to see each other as often as we wished over the past 10 years but each phone call and visit was so uplifting. David was such a unique and inspiring soul. I don't know anyone who ever met David that didn't like him. He never failed to leave me feeling better and brighter after each conversation or anytime we were able to get together. In fact, I don't think it is possible to remember David and ANY particular time shared with him and not have a smile, and this is true for everyone who knew Dave. He was simply the best. I truly feel that I've lost a brother and not just a friend. I will miss him terribly but I also look forward to someday getting to reunite in a much better place. David, I love you brother and I pray you are rewarded with the eternal happiness that you so deserve. My thoughts and prayers go out to David's son Ryan, mother Patti, and all David's family and friends. May he rest in peace.
