Leonard Pauplis Obituary

Leonard M. Pauplis, 88, of Hudson, died on Tuesday, Aug. 19th surrounded by his loving family at the Reservoir Center in Marlboro. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jeannette L. (Pavlovich) Pauplis of Hudson. Leonard was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Michael and Philomena (Olszewski) Pauplis. He attended local schools and was a 1944 graduate of Hudson High School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving aboard the H.M.S. Empire Mace in the Philippines; Subic Bay and Gamadodo, New Guinea. He attended Harvard University and received his Degree in Engineering. Leonard had a long and rewarding career as an engineer. He worked for the Homestake Gold Mine in North Dakota; Surprenant Co. in Clinton; Raytheon Co. in Bedford; Mitre Corp. in Burlington and Colorado; N.A.S.A. Electronic Research Centre in Cambridge and retired from the Sylvania GTE Co. in Needham. His final project with Sylvania GTE placed him in Lille and Versailles, France. He was a member of Saint Michaels Parish in Hudson; St. Vincent De Paul in Hudson; Hudson Knights of Columbus; Hudson Historical Society, the I.E.E.E.; American Legion and the A.I.A.A. (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics). Besides his wife, he is survived by three brothers, John Pauplis of Wayland, Alfred Pauplis of Hudson, William Pauplis and his wife Mary of Hudson; two sisters, Genia Pauplis of California, Diane Pauplis of Hudson and his two brother in-laws, Paul Pavlovich and his wife Frances and Ronald Pavlovich and His wife Anne, all of Canada. He also leaves his many nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michaels Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Friday, Aug. 22nd from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). Donations in memory of Leonard may be made to: St. Vincent De Paul, 20 High Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
