Melinda,
I just learned that Mickey died while we were out of town. I certainly would have been at the funeral, had we been here. I am sure that you will miss him terribly, and I hope that you will be comforted by the many happy memories that you shared. Please let me know if I can be helpful to you in any way. Bob and I pray that God will give you and your family strength to endure this difficult time.
Our love to you,
Susan and Bob Harrison

Dear Melinda,

When Mickey first come down to BR and Lsu, you know I had a problem with him because he took the job I thought I would step into as Baton Rouge High's answer to part of the football woes at LSU. We never had a problem personally and he was one of my team members whom I could always count on to do his job and set the pace for doing the right thing around the dorm, on the practice field and around ion the community. I actually have continued, all these years, to check my "gig line" when I get dressed bacause Mickey told me what it was and helped me to avoid getting demerits at ROTC beacuse my gig line was always atraight. He set a pace academically for the rest of use on the team, even though most of us came up short on our end of the grading scheme. I was proud of his making academic All America and I was a slight bit envious of that set of Classic books he received with the honor. I still laugh when I remember the two of you on the phone late at night when he and I lived in the Pentagon Barracks for our last semester in school You always wanted to talk more and he wanted and needed to get to sleep. We prayed through his struggles with his health and always asked that the Lord would draw near to him in his struggles giving him hope. We will miss his jovial manner and helpful attitude. A gaping hole will exist in the support of LSU athletics because he is missing. We revere his memory and cherish your friendship.

Mrs. Mangham,
I am so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. It was a pleasure to meet him and your daughter a few months ago when you were at dinner. Your family is in our prayers.

Molly,
We are sorry for the loss of your brother. He was my introduction to watching football, because he was your brother and was so good. Watching you watch him was all part of the experience. You were so proud of him.

I REMBER THE GAME "YEA MICKEY"

Being from the LSU Class of 1950, I was a little bit ahead of Mickey. However I did attend the 1959 Sugar Bowl and of course saw Mickey catch that winning pass. He is a part of LSU's football lore.
Like every Tiger fan, we mourn his loss.
