Good bye Mr. Meijer. I worked for a couple of your stores in mid-Michigan, back in 1984. They were a good place to work!

Fred will always be remembered for his kindness and honesty. It was an honour to work for him and a privilege to meet him. I hope one day the company is able to find it's way back to his common sense and high morals and values. God Bless and keep you all.

Dear Meijer Family,

A life well-lived.... a well-lived life, Fred Meijer.
Even in sadness, you must feel pride in the legacy left by someone so special. May that spirit continue to shine, lighting the way for others, leaving all of us an example to follow and a remarkable life to remember with grateful hearts. May your memories comfort you and yours and grant you peace. God Bless You All.

Always, Jeff & Marcia Brewer

I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives.
I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him.

Dear Meijer Family,

Fred's and Meijer's influence on my life as an interior designer was known by many close to me. From the days you opened a store in 1995 in Lafayette, IN near where I was attending college at Purdue, to actually working on designing Meijer stores while employed at Integrated Architecture in GR, to my latest job designing pharmacies for the largest RX chain in the nation, Fred's innovative designs, awesome merchandising sense, and friendly demeanor made me want to become the retail designer that I am today! The Meijer stores inspired me since youth to become a retail designer and I thank Fred for this. If it wasn't for the Meijer's that my family visited while on vacation in Michigan in the early 1990's, the Meijer's opened in South Bend in 1994 or the Meijer opened near my college campus of Purdue in 1995, I may have been designing offices or hospitals.....but thanks to Fred, I gained my passionate design sense for retail! Thanks again Meijer family!

My prayers are with you and your family during this time of reflectance and sadness. God Bless you!
