Dear Makar family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and forever. You have lost a truly great and generous soul. I first met Nick and Margaret when I began dating my husband, John. He and Paul were great friends and Nick and Margaret welcomed me into the family with open arms. No visit to Morton was complete without a stop at the Makar house. Many hours were spent at that kitchen table. We were lucky enough to live in Sycamore while Nick and Margaret lived there, also and attended church with them frequently. When we decided to adopt a child, Nick and Margaret wrote such a fantastic recommendation letter that our social worker accused us of paying them to do so! When our son, Andy, was placed with us, Nick and Margaret were our first choice for godparents and they led Andy well.
I cannot begin to express how much I admired Nick as a parent, godparent and most of all, friend. We will miss him. But he will be with us always in memories.
