I just found out that Donn passed away this year. I dont know if your family knew that my husband Wavell Price who was head guide under Donn at Sutter Lodge. passed away on Aug 8th after a brief battle with cancer. My condolences to his family.

Katherine Lyons was very sad to hear of the passing of Donn and Pat.She only found out today, Oct 5th.She has many happy memories of working at Sutter Lodge and was very attached to your family.Please tell your family we are thinking of them at this sad time.

Donn Holland Byrne was born December 24, 1920 and passed away peacefully on May 22, 2014 in Delray Beach, Florida. He attended the New York Military Academy, the Choate School and the University of Virginia before enlisting in the Navy Air Corps in May, 1942. He served as a Lieutenant, first as a flight instructor and then flying off of the aircraft carrier U.S.S. INTREPID at the end of the war. He worked at CBS Radio in Boston after WW II, eventually becoming owner of Service Publications, Inc. and Conventions and Exhibitions Inc. in New York City, companies that produced magazines and trade shows for the Professional Beauty Industry. He was a world-class Salmon and Tarpon fisherman and avid boater. Mr. Byrne lived at Abbey Delray South where services were held June 21, 2014 attended by 19 of his children and grandchildren. Raised in Weston, CT, Mr. Byrne lived in Westport and Fairfield for 40 years before moving to his Florida home full-time in 1985. He was a former Trustee of Fairfield Country Day School and Governor of the Country Club of Fairfield. Mr. Byrne was survived by his now-deceased wife Patricia T. Byrne and his children Jody Byrne of Streetsboro, OH, Donn H. Byrne II of Albuquerque, NM, Suzanne S. Byrne of Santa Fe, NM, John R. Byrne of Orlando, FL, Peter R. Byrne of Indianapolis, IN and his stepsons Elliott W. Reed of Fairfield, CT and David M. Reed of New Canaan, CT. He will be interred in a private ceremony at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Atlantic Salmon Fishing Museum, Doaktown, New Brunswick, Canada.
