HARTLEIN Mrs. Evelyn H. Hartlein died Saturday, January 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Haimes of Mississippi, and her husband, John Hartlein, Jr. of Gulf Shores. Evelyn and John retired from the NASA George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL, and moved to Gulf Shores in 1975. While at the Space Center, Evelyn was Administrative Officer of the Apollo/Saturn V program during the time the first man was put on the moon. Evelyn was a member of Gulf Shores First Presbyterian Church and over the years was very active in several service organizations. She was a life member of the Fort Bowyer Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, life member of the VFW Auxiliary, and life member of the Gulf Shores Senior Citizens. She was a long-time member of the Gulf Shores Friends of the Library, Gulf Shores Chapter of the Federated Women's Club, Gulf Shores Women's Club, Foley Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. A memorial service will be held in honor of Mrs. Hartlein Saturday , January 26, 2013 at Gulf Shores First Presbyterian Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. with graveside service immediately following the service at Pine Rest Memorial Park .
