I have known David and his family since they came to NYC from England around 1975. I will always remember the Bible Study at our apartment and out of all the kids there,I never forgot David shaking his head when asked if he wanted refreshments. I still remember that. Our families grew closer and decided to move down here. I wasn't for it at the time being a teenager and living in NYC where things are accessible and as close as a minute to a place that is different as night and day wasn't on my agenda but move we did, and I grew to love here. David could have been my father's adopted son because there were times that he lived with us and he got along great with my parents. In time with us. I still remember him singing "Roxanne" back in the day before Eddie Murphy did it in 48 Hrs(we still haven't gotten the royalties on it). "Bette Davis Eyes" was another. One other thing, David could run as good as any Olympian of his time. no lie. he outran a many capable men in the day. and could tell the tale too. Whenever he came by, he would talk you out, and if we happened to meet up in public, don't matter, he'd talk and I'd listen. one time at Mardi Gras, we saw each other, and it was a serious crowd, don't think we didn't reach out and touch. I told the folks with him, we're family, it's ok. I was telling Roberta that I feel bad that I didn't mention on Dad's obit that David was his special son.they told me that it didn't matter, they knew who he was. With that, I will like to say that for the past thirty odd years, David Best was my brother. A lot of them years, I didn't understand him always,but with time, I have and have grown to love him. For that, he will be missed. Elder and Sis Robinson, Roberta, we have gone through many things together as family.he is only asleep until that great day. Peace be with you.
