Jane Agee Obituary

AGEE Jane S. Agee, 87, of Pine Hill, died Sunday, October 23, 2011, at her home. Mrs. Agee graduated with a Business Administration degree in 1944 from Auburn University, where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She worked at the Oak Ridge Laboratories in Tennessee before returning to her native Pine Hill, where she met and married Lawrence Gilmer Agee. In 1954, Mr. and Mrs. Agee purchased Alabama Wholesale Co. Inc., which is still owned and operated by her family in Pine Hill. She was a member of Pine Hill United Methodist Church, which honored her last Spring by the dedication of the "Jane and Gilmer Agee Memorial Garden". The family will receive friends at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday evening, October 27, 2011, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service is planned for 11:00 am, Friday morning, October 28, 2011, at the Pine Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dawn Bond officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Gilmer Agee and her son, Walter Lawrence Agee. Mrs. Agee is survived by son, William Henry (Lesa) Agee of Sewanee, TN; daughter, Blanche Agee (Jim) Spinks of Thomasville; three grandsons, Nelson Douglas Agee of St. Petersburg, FL, Clay Sheffield Agee of Nashville, TN, and James Lawrence Spinks of Birmingham; granddaughter, Jane Kathleen "Katie" Spinks of Richmond, VA; and her long time caregiver, Sarah Lee Brackett of Pine Hill. The family is especially thankful to Dr. Jane Pearson of Birmingham for her loving medical care of our Mother. Memorials may be made to Pine Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 366, Pine Hill, AL 36769, or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered at www.obryantchapelfh.com. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville is in charge of arrangements.
