Warren Banta Obituary

BANTA JR. Warren "Jack" Maddox Banta, Jr. - Jack died on Wednesday, March 27th in his home at the age of 85. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren Maddox Banta and Mabel Potter Banta, and his granddaughter Rachel Leigh Robbins. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Graf Banta, three children, Dr. David (Lisa) Maddox Banta, Gwen (Roy) Donaldson, and Sheryl Leigh Ethridge plus eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and later graduated from University of Georgia. Operating covertly behind enemy lines as a demolition expert in the European theatre, Jack became a decorated veteran of World War II. He enjoyed a long career in the insulation business which started in Birmingham, Alabama and continued in Mobile until his retirement. His notable gentle and kind nature will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Thelma Allen, his caregiver. The family will hold a private service and asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
