CHARLES "CHUCK" EDWARD DEATLEY
JAN 28, 1935 - AUG 15, 2013
Born in Saffll, Arkansas, he and his mother moved out west to San Francisco, CA, where he grew up and later became a jockey.
At 16 yrs old he joined the U.S. Navy and met and fell in love with the only woman he would ever love, Marion Joy Robnette from Ripon, CA.
Chuck was stationed on the U.S.S. Bairoko heading for Korea, where he was serving in a combat unit, earning The Korean Service War Medal, The United Nations Service Medal and The National Defense Service Medal and numberous campaign ribbons.
After the war he and Joy moved to Modesto. Chuck became employed at The Sharpe Army Depot in Stockton, CA, where he worked for 35 years earning numberous awards and citations working his way up the ladder.
He is survived by 3 sons, Tommy Wayne, Ronny Ray, and Lonny Jo DeAtley; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
As he goes to join Joy in paradise and no longer in any pain, he's smiling and finally at peace with himself. We miss you Pops and we love you very much!! Good-bye.

Chuck was a very close friend prior to and during our Navy days. We were stationed together at North Island Naval Air in San Diego. Loved Chuck and Joy like a brother and sister. We lost contact after I moved out of state. What softens the loss is knowing there is no more pain, sickness or tears.
