Donald Sise
June 23, 1933 - January 10, 2013
Born to parents, Darrell and Lucile(Fike) Sise, in Modesto on June 23, 1933, Don passed peacefully at home on January 10, 2013. Don grew up in Waterford graduating from Oakdale High in 1951. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, spending 1952 in Korea with Weapons Co., 1st Battalion/7th Marines. Once his service was complete, he returned home getting a job at Asbill's Appliance installing TV antennas. It is there he met the love of his life and future wife of 52 years, Rochelle Warden. In 1964, Don and Rochelle started The Wardens Office with Jerry and Linda Warden. After 18 years, Don sold his stake in the business and took a job with Valley Printing. He later returned to Wardens working in various capacities, retiring there twice. After his 2nd retirement, Don became a dutiful house-husband and home project engineer.
A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Don enjoyed life and was always active. In the late 50's, he and life long friend "Bud" Turpen built a boat from scratch that they would take to Modesto Reservoir to water ski on homemade skis. This evolved into many enjoyable years with the Merced Outboard Club and the cabin at Tulloch Lake where Don became the official boat driver and teacher of countless beginning water skiers. He had fond memories of the many hiking trips to the Emigrant Wilderness with his brother Lowell. Don enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, Mike. He was very adept at home improvement and loved tinkering in his garage. He was one of the founding members of the Davis High Booster Club and never missed one of his son's football games. Later, he became proud "Grandpa Don" to Justin and Megan. He loved traveling with his wife, especially the last 15 years to the condo in Puerto Vallarta where, in 2008, they renewed vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. In his later years, Don embraced his service in the Marines and always sported an "Eagle, Globe, and Anchor" somewhere on his attire. Ever the staunch Republican, even as his health was fading, he never missed an episode of Bill O'Reilly. Don's caring, thoughtfulness, and dry wit will be sorely missed by all.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Rochelle, and sister Norma. He leaves behind his son Mike, daughter-in-law and caregiver Nicole, grandson Justin, granddaughter Megan, brother Lowell(Claudia), numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. There will be a visitation Thursday, January 17th, 4 PM to 8 PM and a service Friday, January 18th, beginning at 1 PM both at Salas Brothers Funeral Home with a graveside service immediately following at Lakewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in Don's name to:

Allow yourself time to heal; speaking from experience, it takes time for the laughter to return to your heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I had some GREAT times at Tulloch Lake!
