JACK L. ARBANAS
OCT 6, 1949 - NOV 1, 2012
Resident of Valley Springs. My father was born in Oakland, CA on Oct 6, 1949. At 18 years of age he volunteered for thedraft and was enlisted in the US Army. Just a few short months later he left basic training in Fort Polk, Louisiana and landed in Vietnam where he fought nearly 18 months in Company A, 3rdBattalion, 7th Infantry, 199th Infantry Brigade. He was honorably discharged due to wounds suffered to his leg, hand and abdomen. Dad was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry, as well as a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, and expert badges for the Automatic Rifle, Machine Gun, and Rifle Bars. Following the war he worked his a## off as a truck driver for 30 plus years to provide for me and my mother. He was a fisherman extraordinare who loved the outdoors, music, motorcycles, cars and last but certainly not least his family. He is survived by his loving wife Antoinette, daughter-in-law Flea, son Nick, grandson Elias and his brother Dana Arbanas. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor, guitar playing, and genuine selflessness towards others. Wait can't forget his wonderful BBQ! You truly helped make this world a better place pop and we all love you for it. Please continue to look down on us and help guide us through this journey we call life. You are and always will be "the greatest man I'll ever know" Godspeed - Nick Arbanas
