I am sadden to hear of the passing of coach Bob Hobbs. My heartfelt Aloha goes out to Betsy and his family. Coach was the greatest and he took very good care of us "Hawaiians" when we played at Cuesta College in 1974 and 1975 season. I remember coach taking Chucky and I into his home until we could find a place to live. Steven and Lee Anne were very little at that time. Coach let us drive his pick up truck to get around town. We had a great season under his leadership and he was like a second father to us. Coach loved coming to Hawaii and Kauai as he influenced and got kids to play at Merced. He made a difference in the lives of three generations who played for him. Coach Kaipo at Coalinga, me at Cuesta and Bruce, David and Shane at Merced. We will miss you very much! May peace be you...Coach. Much Mahalo from Kauai!

I remember with fondness my times at Cuesta College in the mid-70's. I had the opportunity to play baseball and football for Coach Hobbs. I can honestly say that playing for Coach Hobbs was one of the highlights of my youth. Coach had the perfect disposition for working with and developing a bunch of young kids that were attempting to become young men. With leadership and a sense of humor to match, Coach made us a team in every sense of the word. I will always remember him turning his hat sideways in practice whenever one of us made a bonehead or comical play. In my case, his hat was turned sideways a lot. Thanks Coach for the wonderful memories and the impact you had on all of us.

Bob was instrumental in my hiring at Cuesta College. It changed my life. His friendship will always be remembered. You could not miss his jovial laugh. Bob was a great contributor to California Athletics at the Community College level. Best wishes and prayers are extended to his family.

I got to know Bob and Betsy during a Rotary Convention in Copenhagen. While I was Club President, Bob Served as District Gov. Everyone enjoyed working with Bob. He had the rare talent of making everyone feel important, and motivated to go the extra mile. Bob touched the hearts of many. He was a blessing. Cheers!! to Bob's family and friends.
