I first saw Molly Evans at a Theta Sigma Phi event for women journalism students at the University of Texas back in 1969 or so. I remember how full of life and mischief she seemed. She was pretty and smart -- with large beautiful eyes full of laughter, joi de vivre, wit and intelligence --ever alert to see and subsequently skewer with her pen, the evildoers of Texas politics... I don't think even Molly could get them all but I feel certain that she tried.

I followed her liberal political columns from newspaper to syndication and to newspaper again and yet again and found myself laughing at how accurate and hilarious her portrayals were. She saw the cow pie slices between the toes of the Gucci-shod good old boy politicos in the expensive suits and the cheap tricks here in the Capitol of Austin. And we all loved her for it.

In the tradition of Great Texas Woman like Ann Richards, Barbara Jordan and so many others who have gone on before, Molly was something special and unique to this land I love that we call Texas.

God took another Great One Home.
