My condolences to the family of Douglas Heinlen.Im very sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort be with you at this difficult time, and be comfort and strengthen by God'sWord in John 6:40.

Mr. Heinlen made math and physics classes enjoyable and understandable. I owe my career in engineering to him. A small class trip to the Toronto museums during Christmas break in 1979 sealed a long friendship. I was glad to visit with him this past summer; so many memories were still vivid in his mind. He was an inspirational teacher and friend.

If I have succeeded in life, I owe much to Douglas Heinlen. He was a role model for me and provided the education foundation for me to succeed in earning advanced degrees in science. I recall coming into school (an hour early) where he provided integrated circuit chips (bought with his own money) for us to experiment by creating logical circuits. I also recall coding in Basic using his Commadore-64 computer in his home. He planted the seeds that fueled my interest in electrical engineering. I'll miss his humor and joy for life long learning. I am forever grateful to him. Rest in peace my dear friend.
