Gerald "Jerry" Alan Joyce was born on January 16, 1959 in Monroe, Michigan. He was the son of the late Kenneth Joyce and the late Mary Lou (Schassberger) Joyce. Gerald attended Lincoln School and the Hawthorne Center before graduating from Monroe Public Schools.
For many years, Gerald worked in the restaurant business as a dishwasher and prep cook. He was employed by several local establishments over the years including Delaney's (Holiday Inn), Duff's, Cracker Barrel, Big Boy, Boron Truck Stop and Goodwill Industries.
Jerry loved music and he could often be found listening to the likes of Elvis or Led Zeppelin. He also enjoyed playing the drums. Jerry could often be found tinkering on things. He liked to ride his bike.
Jerry was known for being quite stubborn, but more importantly he was a "Gentle Giant" blessed with a heart of gold. He was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, often volunteering his time at the God Works Dinner at St. Mary Parish Life Center.
