Billy R. Mann, 85, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Monroe, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 25, 2018.
Mr. Mann spent his entire career with the J.C. Penny company as a store manager for 38 years, and was a faithful employee and dedicated associate for that company. He was an active member of the Rotary while in Monroe, and also was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Monroe. He became an accomplished woodworker when he retired and enjoyed crafting numerous items for family and friends. He loved watching the Detroit Pistons and was a huge fan.
Billy was born on April 27, 1932, in Bozoo, West Virginia, to Opie R. and Rhoda E. Mann. He grew up in Princeton W.V. where he attended high school, and was a graduate of Concord College in Athens, W.V.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Janet, his parents, and a sister, June Roberts.
Surviving are children; Rita Krantz and husband Kevin of Roanoke, Virginia, Terri D. Mann of Cape Coral, Florida, Karen Keliher and husband Sean of Livonia, Michigan, Steven Mann of Matthews, North Carolina, and David Mann of Fort Myers, Florida: six grandchildren; Evan Pruitt, Eric Mann, Lauren Mann, Sierra Keliher, Nicholas Mann, and Samantha Mann: one great-grandchild, Ryan Mann: one brother, Buddy Mann and a sister, Wilma Bailey.
Billy was a devoted husband to his wife Janet and a loving father and grandfather. His loss will be forever felt by those who knew and loved him and he will be missed. May he rest in peace. We love you.
Family and friends may visit on Monday, April 2, from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home. Services will be on Tuesday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Rupp with Rev. Katie Waggoner of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
