Stefanie, Sandy and Family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I hope that looking back in memory may bring comfort and peace to your hearts.

I have many fond memories of my friendship with Krysia (as I called Christine) over the years. I am grateful that she always found time for me whenever I was in town. We used to meet in her favorite local restaurants such as Max's Grill or Patisserie Boissiere which were as international as her gypsy spirit. She especially enjoyed Japanese, Mediterranean, and European foods and fine wines as well as colorful organic salads (such as at the Wild Plum). In these cozy café atmospheres, Krysia told me how excited she was about her plans for a family trip with Stefanie, Emily and Alex either a Mediterranean cruise or Southern California tour. She also mentioned how proud she was of Stefanie's university career and her most recent professional achievements. We also talked about her recent trips with Sandy and their mutual passions for travel, music (notably opera), and nature.

I was blessed to be invited by Krysia and Sandy to their home last November. That day fills me with wonderful feelings. I did not know then that it would be our final farewell. Krysia took me around the house and garden, delighting in showing their beautiful blooms. She and Sandy then shared stories about their amazing travels, highlighted by the breathtaking Italian architecture and landscapes they admired so much.

What I will remember most about Krysia is her warmth, exuberance, radiance, and boundless optimism. She approached life with as much vibrancy, zest, and grace as her favorite dance, the tango. She will be deeply missed. The only consolation is that now she is exploring the even more magnificent heavens and stars.

Sending lots of light and love,

I was deeply saddened to hear the news about Christine, with whom I worked closely during my three years at NPS, 2009-12. She was wonderful friend, very committed to the institution, the mission and the people around her. I personally learned so much from her, and valued her friendship; she gave untiringly to others. My prayers and condolences to her family.
