Ms. Ephron was a wonderful teacher who taught us some valuable lessons. She even taught us the “Rules” to test a Relationship:
The Test:
A. He's Your “Friend”
B. He Listens.
C. He's Available.
D. He Shows You.
Your Response:
A. Thank You! (That was good!)
That Infamous “Diner Scene!” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-bsf2x-aeE
Through laughter and tears, Ms. Ephron showed us through film, with her wonderful “word magic!”
How did she know that whatever she wrote or co-wrote would awaken emotions in us that we could never put into words? Sometimes we laughed, sometimes we cried, sometimes we wished we could watch her movies all day . . .(So we went out and purchased them, and replayed them until they were worn out. When on a business trip, during bad break-ups, we found our way to the nearest video store and purchased our 5th copy of “When Harry Met Sally” just to ease the pain and give us that twinge of “hope” that “not all was lost!”)... We did not want to go to work . . . Or live in the “real world,” take care of the sweet kids or deal with the “imperfect” person in our own life because Tom Hanks and Billy Crystal were perfect-- and of course Meg Ryan and Meryl Streep were wonderful, funny and strong! Whatever “magic” God gave Ms. Ephron, she cast the spell on us with her “Word Wand,” that left us wanting more-- We are so sorry for the pain she endured... So God was merciful and we hope He was gentle. Thank you for sharing her with us! We know you will miss her all the more because she was “Yours!” But, believe me- Ms. Ephron touched so many people, world-wide, we believe God Himself and the Angels in Heaven are laughing and crying with her right down as they welcomed her “Home” to Life Eternal with the worlds “Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant.”
Every time we break out “When Harry Met Sally,” “You've Got Mail” and “Sleepless in Seattle,” especially during the holidays, we go through a range of emotions-- She will forever live in our hearts. Ms. Ephron, you made the world laugh until “They” cried. Rest in Peace, Ms. Ephron. Your movies, screenplays and novels continue to light up our lives.
What an ending to a “perfect” script. We should all be so Blessed!
“Weeping may endure for a night … but Joy cometh in the morning.”
Please accept our deepest sympathy in the loss of your “Star!” We believe that “It is by dying that one receives Everlasting Life.”
May Ms. Ephron forever live in your minds and hearts as she will in ours!

Dear Nora - You are the "other me" I always aspired to be but never was, and so, I thank you for fully living your life, knowing and sharing your talents, and raising all of us up in this world. I'm so sorry you are gone and it is way too soon. Love you.
I pray that God will give you comfort. Cherish the memories of your loved one. (Isaiah61:2) Nora had a tremendous talent.
I have always admired Ms. Ephron for her ability to be clear headed and dreamy eyed, all at once. Her sharp and ruthless mind made her sweet dreams all the more plausible, all the more useful to the rest of us. I am glad to have been able, even from my distance, to enjoy her extraordinary existence.
I wish any intimately connected with Ms. Ephron strength. May the comfort of loving and having been loved by her compensate you for your loss.
God bless Nora Ephron and her family. Her talent was and is great!!
I loved your movies. You touched my soul. I'm thinking of you now and sad knowing you are no longer with us. You gave so much to so many -- it's very rare for a person to touch so many people. RIP -

To a woman who brought so much joy to so many through her wonderful works. To be able to touch some one emotionally through your talent must be a great gift. Her writings have and will remain favorites of mine for the rest of my life.

So many great memories come to mind. So many wonderful hours appreciating a great writer. Once my Mother and I joined her as part of a group at dinner. Nora found Mom's charm bracelet fascinating and asked her the story behind each charm. Then when Nora came to the Eifel towers she recalled her own first honeymoon to the surprise and amusement of all at the table. The evening was as unforgettable as Nora Ephron herself will always remain.
Dear Nora, heartfelt thanks for all your great writing. Your wit and "religion of 'get over it'" have helped me through a few rough patches. And your "Linguine alla cecca" recipe gets raves every time. Best wishes to your family.
A loss for all ~ a remarkable inspiration to so many, gifted with words of wisdom and a knack of portraying it all from pen to screen.
May she rest in peace.
Nora will be greatly missed by us her fans. God Bless.

Nora's whom I met once was amazingly creative and realistically touching.
She will be back. I believe in reincarnation with improvement in each life. She is a real loss now.
Realistic, touching and immensly creative.
I have been entertained by many of her works and relateed to many of them, the world it a little less brighter for losing her!
MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE FAMILY. AND I WANT TO SAY THAT YOU DID A GOOD JOD AND YOU HAVE EARNED YOUR WINGS.AND YOU ARE ONE OF GOD ANGLES.
I just went to see Loretta Switt and friends in Nora and Delia's play "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" at the Asolo Repertory Theater here in Sarasota, Florida. What a wonderful experience! Thank you so much for all the laughter and warmth that you forever bring into our lives.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Thank you for bringing so much joy to all of us. You will be missed.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." -Psalm 116:15.We will miss Nora's writing ability. God bless her Memory.

SHE ALSO ENJOYED SIMPLY THINGS LIKE BIRDS. IT HELP ME TO APPRECIATE PS. 104:24 WHERE IT SAYS "HOW MANY YOUR WORKS ARE O GOD. . . THE EARTH IS FULL OF YOUR PRODUCTIONS. I HOPE THIS IS OF COMFORT TO YOU.

What a loss! I loved some of those books and movies...Nora might still be with us if it weren't for his sickness. How wonderful it will be when there is a permanent solution for all illnesses! Isa. 33:24
So sad to hear of Nora's death. I too, love the sound of geese. It makes me think that Nora knew for a long time she was exiting and was fighting it the whole way. Her writings tell us the whole story...but I think that we did not listen or maybe want to hear what she was telling us. My heart goes out to her children, husband and friends.
Our condolences to Nora's family. May our Heavenly Father, the God of comfort and tender mercies be with you. WIth deep sympathy,
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. (Eccl. 7:1)
Nora's book, "I Feel Bad About My Neck", brought me a different attitude towards getting older. I read the book so fast, because I couldn't put it down. I will forever be thankful for her for the laughs I got from reading that book. Laughs are few for me some days. Rest in peace!
She was such an inspiration. I loved her work and her willingness to look at the hard/funny truths of life and was so tuned in to womens' feelings and issues, in her own unique voice. I especially loved "Silkwood" and "Heartburn". Her writing was very personal and at the same time, very universal. I met her once, at a Friars Club Roast held at the NY Hilton. I went up to her and tried not to gush. We spoke for a few minutes. She was real, solid, gracious. How I wish I could have been her friend./Ellen Orchid

You lived a messy, complicated, glorious life of exactly your own choosing with confidence, wit and kindness - and unintentionally showed the legions of women who followed you that we could, too. Thank you, Nora.
I have loved your movies! You've got Mail, Sleepless and When Harry Met Sally. Seen them so many times over the last 15 years, I drive my kids nuts. Thank-you for sharing your gift. And may you rest in peace.

Farewell funny, talented witty lady--gone too soon. Rest in Peace Nora.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
Nora was every woman and how we thought. Jimmy Durante's Make Someone Happy from Sleepless in Seattle is the perfect Nora Ephron song: she made so many people happy, I hope & pray she was just that happy too. Nora, we will miss you and always love you.
My best to your family. I will always remember the great movies that you wrote and produced. Can not wait to read some of your books
I loved Sleepless in Seatle
There are no words for someone of your wit, style and more. Thank you for leaving your God given talent behind. Prayers and love to your loved ones, friends and fans. We already miss you!
Many smiles and tears today. You left us a big gift, yourself. Your wit, film
writing, and books will always be with us. Nora, may your soul rest in peace.
I can recall buying all of my sisters the book CRAZY SALAD in the late '70s because I thought it was such a perfect "capture" of the times. And, most recently, I gave a dear friend a copy of Ms. Ephron's latest book, which in true homage to her, I have forgotten the exact title...something like I REMEMBER NOTHING.
A voice for the times and a woman, who reminded me to laugh often at this precious thing called LIFE! Long live laughter and those who encourage and perpetuate same!
Thank you for all the fun stories you wrote. You will be missed. God Bless you, rest in peace.
Nora...I didn't know you, but I felt like you were my best friend. The world has lost a precious lady and beautiful soul.
I loved her movies. May she rest in peace.
She was a wonderful talent and wrote my most favorite movies. She will be missed.
We all lost a great lady. My sympathies to the family, one and all.
Enjoyed your work, watched Mixed Nuts this weekend and enjoyed it. Rest In Peace. Our prayers go out to your family.

You will be missed by many.

Rest in Peace Nora. You were a breath of fresh air in this world. Thank you for blessing us with your humor. We needed that. You will always be missed.
Nora, what a difference you made. How lucky we all are to have been touched by your genius, your warmth, your wit, and your wisdom. I feel as if I lost my dearest friend.
I will continue to be inspired by the extraordinary gifts you shared with us.
you look like my sister sorry to see you go
Nora, you spoke for so many of us; thanks for making me laugh and cry and realize that we're all in this together. "When Harry Met Sally" will always be my favorite movie.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and associates. We love her wit,her movies, her incredible talent, and her way of guiding us to our necks as we age. She will be missed.
I always knew that if Ms. Ephron was associated with a movie, I was going to like it. I thank her for the laughter and hours of enjoyment she has already given and will give to my life when I watch her movies and read her writings. My heartfelt condolences to those who are family and who loved this delightful and enchanting woman.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
My sympathy to the family of one of the wittiest people I ever met
Please forgive my senior memory in my earlier message. (I know you've got the best joke about senior memory.) It was Max who was the Hunter classmate of my daughter, Delia Chiu.
I gasped and began to cry when I read of Ms. Ephron's death. She's irreplaceable, one of our national treasures forever imprinted on memory. My deepest sympathy for her family and friends.
My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the family and friends of the sublime Nora Ephron. We have truly lost a national treasure. I have loved and enjoyed all of her work; her wonderful films and her laugh-out-loud books. She was an amazing American original and a very great woman, taken from us much too soon.
With deep sadness,
Youv'e Got Mail! Favorite movie ever! Blessings on such a beautiful, talented lady!
To The Ephron Family, we wish to express
our deepest condolences.
John 11: 1-44
We met as fellow (?)Hunter moms of Jacob and Delia; yes, Delia, I chose that name after seeing your sister's book at B&N.
Thereafter, you occasionally graced me with hellos and a bit of your dry wit. As an UPW-er and Zabar's loyalis, I felt somehow close to you and now the loss is palpable. If there is a good cafe wherever you are, your tablemates are lucky. Thank-you, Nora.
At Fanny Brice's funeral the rabbi quoted the Talmud, saying "The jester has a special place in heaven because he lightens our load." Nora Ephron did this so well. We are glad she was among us for so many reasons, but this is the one I remember today. Thanks, Nora, for getting us through unhappiness by laughing as you did. We will miss you so.
My condolences to the Ephron family during this difficult time.-Ps.65:2
Nora, I have always enjoyed your movies. They were filled with comedy and sentiment. One could always insert one of your movies when they needed a pick me up. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
RIP, thanks for the laughs and life lessons.
She was "like magic" with everything she did and I will miss her spirit and talents. Deepest sympathies for all of us at this loss of such a wonderful person.
Thank you Nora, for entertaining us so beautifully all these years!
Thanks for the laughs, insight and thoughts, Nora. You will be missed. Such a sad loss for so many people.
Nora, You made me laugh and you made me cry, and I thoroughly enjoyed both. Rest in Peace Sweet Lady
I have always enjoyed your talent... You've given us hours of laughter and that is a wonderful thing... God bless your family... going to go put your movie in...... thanks......
My condolences to her family. I love her work. I shall never forget her because I watch her movies so often. May GOD Bless her and her family.
My heart sank when I heard the news this morning. I enjoyed her work so very much! She was of my mom's generation and yet spoke to mine as well. I hate seeing another original talent fade from our world. God Bless.
SAD BIG LOSS OF A VERY TALENTED WOMAN THAT WILL BE MISSED.
I AM VERY SORRY NORA HAS PASSED AWAY.
LOVE,
JOHN C
There is no other writer or film producer who impacted my life as much as Nora through her creative talents. Although I never met or talked to her I felt like she was a dear friend. She truly enriched the lives of every single person who ever enjoyed her writings and movies. Her passing is an incredible loss to all of use.
I am sending you my deepest sympathy for your loss (1 Co 15:22)
My deepest condolences to the family the world has lost a great writer and she will be missed my favorite move was you got mail I love that move and everytime I watch it I will think of Nora and I love all her movies
My heartfelt codlences on the loss
Ms Ephron is the "itsy, bitsy spider" that climbed the water spout...she didn't get washed out...she stayed at the top. "Heartburn" is part of my movie collection. Funny, funny, funny! My condolences to family and friends of Ms Ephron. May she be at peace.
I loved your movies ~ thank you for all that you have done, and left behind. Prayers to you and your family.
She didn't believe in God, only in getting it right. This she did beautifully.
She will live forever in her own words.
Susan
RIP and my best to the family. She will be missed.
Amazing, wonderful, there may be an adjective for every letter of the alphabet for you - am at a loss for words right now which is unusual - I just feel like I know you, or will be fortunate enough to know you in other lives...KB
My condolences to the family and friends. With so many fond memories, may you treasure these and lean on our Heavenly Father for strength and support to cope with such a loss.
As I have read her books, I wondered to myself, "How does this woman know me?". She was a star in her own right, but also just an ordinary woman, with normal woman thoughts and feelings. Her writings related to the masses. She will be missed. Her humor and views of this crazy life and world will live on forever. Her legacy is the great embodiment of her movies and books, which appeal to all of us.
To the family of Nora Ephron may God give you comfort and peace by means of prayer - Philipians 4:6,7. My deepest sympathy
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
With deepest sympathy to the family during your time of sorrow. Psalms 46:1 says: God is for us a refuge and strength during this difficult time and may God grant you the comfort to endure.
RIP Nora, you well deserve it. Although your wonderful work and powerful wit will forever be missed.
Thanks for being so charming that in your films, it is always said that people would know how to do that in a Nora Ephron movie like peeling an apple with no breaks as Meg Ryan did in Sleepless in Seattle. I loved the line in Heartburn when you wrote that Carl Bernstein's mistress had the "world's longest neck" referring to the current Baroness Jay. We will miss your way with words and on film. As your sister said, you were humorous.
How very sad. Didn't even know she was sick, so I was shocked to hear that she died. Loved her work, and her Humor. Sad.
I will miss her funny rawness. No one could present this the way she did and no one ever will.
As a Wellesley classmate and as a "neighbor" of Nora Ephron in the dormitory named "Tower Court" I have my personal memories of Nora Ephron which also tell something about her determination and ambition. I well remember one snowy night in February, perhaps in 1961, when I returned from a date with a Yalie, and as I was running down the corridor on the second floor of Tower Court, a little past our 1 A.M. deadline, I passed Nora's dorm room. Her window was wide open and she was sitting at her desk shivering in a heavy winter coat. I said to her - "Why don't you close the window and take off your coat ?" Her answer was: "If I am warm I will fall asleep and then I can't study". Well, she became exceedingly famous - We others have done well but she was truly one of our major stars. I will miss thinking about her and following her brilliant career and her life with its ups and downs. Mary Louise Murray-Johnson, Heidelberg, Germany, Wellesley Class of 1962
The passing of another GREAT. I enjoyed her work.
Thank you for your inspiration and for making me laugh.
The world lost a huge talent & wonderful person. My thoughts & prayers are with her family.
Peace !
I loved her work, especially "Heartburn".
Her sarcastic work was infectious. RIP, Nora. You touched many lives!
Dear Nora,
God knows how much I've enjoyed your work.I miss you already.I just bought one of your books last week. It's time to dive into it and enjoy you one more time.Thank you for everything.
My sincere condolences to all of Ms. Ephron's family. I re-read "Heartburn" every year, it has remained one of my all time favorite books. She will be missed by all who loved her work.
Thank you for your inspiration and for making me laugh.
I love the book " ... I Feel Bad About My Neck." I bought it at a time when I was just starting to see changes in numerous parts of my body, so it really resonated with me. Since then, I have bought two more copies and given them out as gifts. I didn't know her personally; only through her writing and her movie projects. However, it didn't take me long to be an admirer of her wonderful writing skills. Although she did not win an Oscar, I'm glad she has gone on to an ever greater reward. I'm also so very grateful that we have so many ways to read, watch, listen and remember her. Rest in peace.
Nora, a magnificent, creative, bold and beautiful renaissance woman, my artist-life would have been more beautiful if i could have known you. We will meet in the Light.
Nora and I were classmates, friends and English majors at Welletsley College, 1962. She was missed at our recent 50th Reunion. Her sardonic wit and wordsmith talents will last forever...a
life well lived, Nora love, Ellie
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.

To the the family of Nora Ephron - May God give you peace and comfort through his word and the Lord Jesus Christ during this time of sorrow, I know that she will be missed by many.
As an aspiring writer, I take from Nora the inescapable courage to put ones own work out in the public sphere. I guess that's what true artist do. She left me with the feeling that one could be bold in his/her writing.
My husband and I saw "When Harry Met Sally" on our honeymoon, in the quaint town of Sonoma, California. It has remained a perennial favorite.
"Heartburn"~ an all too familiar scenario for women (different names, same pain). That's when I became a fan of Nora's work. This is a great loss! My condolences to her family, friends and other fans. I'm glad she found love and happiness to help her endure until she slipped away from us! What treasure she shared with all. RIP Nora.
Her words, her movies, are a comfort to me. I watch them over and over. They are like visiting a good friend. I am so saddened at her passing. The world has lost a beautiful, creative soul. Rest in peace.
We lost you too soon I really enjoyed all of your movies. You will always be a national treasure in all of hearts. Rest in peace.

To Nora:
Karen and I wish we had known you earlier. Your talent was magnificant, and so human, so close to much reality. You dip way into our feelings and personal stories. Thanks to Nora for showing us some otherwise elusive aspects of our lives. Bless you and your family and friends. We hope to find you in your afterlife where I am sure that you will be visible to many.

p.s. I am now going to be more observant of necks, especially my own, if your observations apply to old men, too.
Dear Nora...You will be sorely missed....You made us all feel good.....snap to attention.....get real; with wit and confidence....laugh out loud....roar....You made us know ourselves better --get on with it --enjoy each other more and lighten up. Not take it all too seriously...but still work hard, go for the gold, have style, stay smart...and be caring. I am sad that you left so soon -- You really were one of the greats that I thought would outlive us all... ever that rare, sparkling beacon of inspiration and freshness and joy...Heartfelt condolences to your grieving family and friends...Thank you for your many, many gifts...Peace, Phyllis
I remember the first time I read one of her books. It was "Crazy Salad". My husband and I were working overseas and it was in the library at our compound. That book was just hilarious, and turned me on to the wonderful world of Nora Ephron. We have just lost an American treasure. God bless her, and her family at this very sad time.

To the family and friends of Nora Ephron I am very sorry to hear about your loss. May the God of comfort be with you during this hard time.( 2 Cor 1:3,

A very sad day for those of us who enjoyed and appreciated her work.
Condolences to her family and friends.
A great contributor to our culture has passed, but her work remains. My codolences to the family
I'll never, ever, ever, ever forget being assigned to read Crazy Salad as a "new journalism" undergrad in the late 70's. Made a startling impression on me (little African-American me) that remains to this day. It helped me to find my authentic writer's voice, a voice that I genuinely take delight in and cherish day by day. Rest in well-earned peace, dear "mentor" to whom I was never introduced. I will miss your voice tremendously!!
I am in tears. Her humor lifted me and made things seem OK when they weren't. I loved her words whether reading them or hearing them in my favorite movies-so inspiring. I am so sad there will be no more. I will happily re-read and continue to re-view all that she contributed to our world. My thoughts and prayers go to Ms. Ephron's family and friends.
Nora, you made me laugh, you made me cry, but most - and best - of all, you made me think. Thank you.
An amazing talent. The voice of a generation.Rest in peace. Prayers to all her loved ones
My deepest condolences are with you at this time of need. Know that god
feels your pain as well. Go to him in prayer and he will comfort you very
much.
Sincerely,
Ms J
A terrific storyteller, and source of many laughs and truth. She will be missed.
I so enjoyed her work. Celebrating a life well lived. Condolences to all
Too early to have lost this national treasure. Rest in peace, Nora, and thank you for your brilliance.
I so enjoyed her movies. When Harry Met Sally is one of my all-time favorites, and more recently Julie and Julia. I loved her New York sensibility, her wry wit, her sweet and comic take on romantic relationships. As a great fan of her work I will miss her. My condolences to her family.
