Over ten years ago, Stuart dropped by my office at the Monterey Public Library and introduced himself. He told me that he had relocated to Carmel from L.A., where he had facilitated a book discussion group among members of his local Bar Association for many years, and wondered if he might volunteer to do the same for the Library. I was overjoyed! For over 10 years, Stuart, often joined by Paula, facilitated lively, intelligent, thoughtful, and congenial discussions of literary fiction, and cultivated a devoted group of readers. He had a brilliant mind, but was also down to earth, devoted to his family, full of intellectual curiosity and love for humanity. The Library will always be grateful to him for his service, and I personally will always remember and cherish my memories of this lovely man.
