I remember vividly listening to the radio in 1954, when Stan Musial hit those five home runs. It was one of the most exciting days of my life. Later, in the 1970's we lived in St. Louis and one Sunday afternoon, our neighbor called and said, "Do you want to come over and meet Stan Musial?" OMG What a thrill! I only wished my father could have been with me. Mr. Musial was so warm and gracious, just as I pictured him listening to all those ball games, back on our farm in Macon County, Mo. His inspiration continued long past his playing days.

Look up "HUMILITY" in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Stan Musial. Quiet consistency...all he ever did was his job...the player who, when you discuss greatest ever, makes you say, "Oh, yeah, that guy." Godspeed.

Growing up in the Rochester NY area that was the Cardinals AAA farm club,my family grew to love and appreciate Mr. Musial for his baseball prowess and his goodness.My parents took me to see him his last year at the Polo Grounds where the Mets were playing. it's one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Musial family,he has gone home to Lil.......

I don't know much about sports never really being into it but reading Stan's obituary made me feel so proud. A humble, Scandal free person. THAT to me is the kind of person kids should look up to for a hero. Not whats out there now.
I am also so proud that is he Polish and originally from Pennsylvania as I am.
My Deepest Sympathy to all his family.
