I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to Antoinette's loved ones.

Mrs. M captivated us with the classics—with Atticus Finch and Algernon and Romeo and Juliet and Tybalt and any number of Commedia dell'Arte archetypes. Herself a literary class act, she engendered lively debate unlike anyone in her field. We learned more than we could have imagined, as projected by that little microphone through which she lectured. Not that her booming personality warranted any amplification.

She will always be remembered as the astonishingly spry, superbly witty, and wonderfully confrontational woman who graced the halls of my adolescence. Grazie.
