It was with sadness that I learned of Bernard's passing. He and I met at Oglivy Renault, and I will remember him fondly for both his sense of humor and intellect. My thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
Joseph A. Day
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dear husband, Bernard A Roy.
My late husband, Kalman Samuels, QC passed away last year also subjected to the scourge of cancer.
I feel an affinity with you in several aspects as for example, Kalman also studied at the Law School in Laval. We had practiced law together in Montreal for a period of over fifty years. Kalman was very closely associated with the very prestigious and reputable firm of Ogilvy Renault. He had a very warm and admirable relationship with the Attorneys at the firm including the senior partners and also including your dear husband, Bernard Roy.
We need to derive support and pride from the admirable motivations which supported them through Law school and through the practice of Law.
May you and your dear Family find comfort in the precious memories which Bernard has left for you.
DEAR MARIANNE AND ROY FAMILY; MY WIFE CAROLL AND I WERE SO SADDENED TO READ OF BERNARDS DEATH IN THE GLOBE AND MAIL. HIS CLOSE FRIEND YVES (CAROL)FORTIER AND OUR MUTUAL FRIENDS TOLD US THE SERIOUS ILLNESS HE WAS FIGHTING. WE ALSO KNOW HIS BROTHER CLAUDE AND HIS WIFE SIMONE WHO ARE FRIENDS OF MY SISTER JEAN PERRY. I KNEW HIS OLDER BROTHER RODDY FROM OLDTIMER HOCKEY DAYS IN QUEBEC AND EUROPE. WHILE THE YEARS HAVE PASSED MUCH TOO QUICKLY WE CAN REMEMBER ALL THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD AS YOUNG LAWYERS IN THE CANADIAN BAR ASSOCIATION MEETINGS AND ANY OTHER OCCASIONS. HE WAS ALWAYS SUCH FUN TO BE WITH AND WE BOTH LOVED HIM. BERNARD ALWAYS INTRODUCED US TO HIS MANY, MANY FRIENDS. HE WAS A GREAT PERSON AND WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM. WITH OUR PRAYERS AND SINCERE SYMPATHY. GORDON AND CAROLL TWEEDY ,45 LEWIS POINT ROAD ,CHARLOTTETOWN,PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND,C1E1L8.
My deepest sympathies to Bernard's family. My parent-Katharine and Frank Common thought so highly of Bernard as I did and how kind and thoughtful he was to the entire Common family-Diana Common Dempsey
