At an LHS reunion (our 50th), I had the opportunity to say thanks to Doug for his many kindnesses to me. As a poor Math student and as a mediocre football player, I was blessed often with his ironic sense of humour and his wisdom. I was reminded recently about a time when missing a tackle and creating a furrow with my nose, Doug uttered the famous words: "Looking for worms, Lynch?". Later, when he was in charge of the extension program, he made it his business to eliminate barriers to higher education. A hard-won BA should have his name on it rather than mine. I hope that his family may take comfort in the gratitude we feel for Doug's dedicated life.
