I have so many memories of Irvin that I will cherish. His smile, his wit, and his humour. He was my first boss, my first mentor and he taught me so much. For my career he taught me attention to detail, professionalism, and to expect the best for myself. And when I screwed up, and there were many, many of those, he let me know how to do things better. I also learned to never mess with his computer when he was not around! It's been 26 years since I showed up to have an interview with Irvin, and in the time since he has never been far from my thoughts. The one thing I will cherish the most is the most important lesson he taught me, and that was by watching him embrace life and have fun doing it.

I would like to convey my deepest sympathies to Irvin's family and friends as you pay tribute to him on the occasion of this weekend's memorial. When I began budgeting at Concordia many years ago, it was Irvin's guidance that I would seek for matters big and small. Each time we spoke he was always kind, so very knowledgeable, and never made me feel like any of my many questions were silly. He had a great sense of humour, and that famous smile - making every meeting so easy and enjoyable. He was missed when he left Concordia, and now he will be missed all over again, but always will be remembered with fondness.

Irvin was clearly a special person and devoted friend to those who held that honour.Irvin's friendship with Heather Walker (deceased) dates back to the early 70s when they met in Cinema Stuies (Fine Arts). He soon became a frequent visitor to our home and a favourite to our children, Lucas & Erin (deceased). His knowledge for and love of the movies was always a source of delightful entertainment. Irvin's perpetual smile, good nature, and up-beat personality, marked him as unique and loveable. The world has lost a good man and he leaves a space the can never be filled. You will be missed, my friend, and you will be remembered.

When I started to work on the budget stuff for our unit, it was Irvin who taught me how to do it. He was kind, gentle and committed. He was extremely patient with my numerous questions. His broad smile and his good sense of humour would put everyone at ease. Irvin will be dearly missed.

Irvin was one of the first people I met when I started working at Concordia 10 years ago. He was always smiling and never made me feel like I was bothering him, even when I called him 20 times a day with 100 questions! He quickly became a good friend to me and I have fond memories of all of our walks, lunches and great conversations. I loved hearing all of this stories, especially about his travels to San Francisco or New York.
My deepest condolences to all of his friends and family. I will miss you Irvin xx

My heart is broken. The times we were together were the BEST of times! The conversation never lagged, and we laughed and laughed! I was looking forward to so many more chances to get together and chat about Broadway, and suddenly you are gone. I am in deep shock and will miss you and your smart and silly sense of humor. I will always remember your joie de vivre and amazing smile, Cabbie! Love you so!

So many things can be said about Irvin, but I think Sinatra says it best " I've lived a life that's full, but more, much more than this, I did it my WAY". I will miss you my friend, always.

I hadn't' seen Irvin in a long time but I have many fond memories of him.
He had a great sense of humour. I also remember that he loved Disney movies and used to take his nieces and nephews to see them in part because he couldn't see going to them alone!
