Cathy-
I'm so sorry to hear about the recent loss of your father. Although I'd only met him once at work, I remembered how nice and funny he was and how he was so sweet to you and all of your co-workers.

Dearest Teresa, Georgeann, Catherine Rose and Madeline: So sorry for your loss. "Uncle Tony," as I knew him was such a wonderful person, full of light. He always had a smile and hug when you saw him. He was a friend and best supporter of the Ray Charles Orchestra, which is where I met him. Although I never had the chance to meet the four of you, you were the light of his life. He was so proud of his family and spoke of you often. I am so proud that I was blessed to know him. You are in my thoughts and prayers. - Renee Collins Georges, Former Ray Charles Raelette

With no hyperbole, Tony was one of the most amazing men I've ever known. I often joked with my family and friends that he was the original "most interesting man in the world." His stories were captivating and unbelievable, and he always had the photos to back them up!

I've had the privilege of working with Tony on both professional and personal projects over the last 7 years, and during that time formed with a wonderful friendship with the entire Gumina family. It's impossible not to have; that's just how Tony was… You began by working on a couple projects, and soon you and your family were over at his house enjoying an amazing home-cooked meal by him and his wife. So welcoming, so inviting, and with such charisma and charm, it was absolutely impossible to resist wanting to be a part of his world.

Additionally, over the years, Tony served as a wonderful mentor, confidant, and advocate for me. When we met, I was just a young professional, fresh out of college, with extremely little experience. He spent countless hours instilling in me many of the real-world business lessons that he had acquired during his vast career, and would frequently refer me or connect me with business opportunities with his distinguished acquaintances.

However, what I'll remember most is his passion for his work. Every time I left a meeting with Tony and was charged with doing some (often technically challenging) task, I was always so excited to get home and get started on it. No matter how menial the task, he was always able to make it seem that it was critical to success of a much larger project, and in turn instilled such a sense enthusiasm in me to get going on every project as soon as possible and do it as well as I could.

Deepest condolences from both Amanda and I to your entire family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry for your loss. Although I knew Tony only from the Schvitz I considered him to be a good friend. I am sorry I did not hear of his death until today when I just read the sport's page preparing for the Kentucky Derby. I heard of his illness last year at the Schvitz and I emailed him my best wishes. I hope he enjoyed life until the end.

No amount of words can encapsulate such an amazing human being who can truly, never be outdone. When I would ask him about something, he would always have a prophetic and ‘Pulitzer' response that always made perfect sense. Going forward, I'm never confronted with a situation where I don't ask myself, what would OUR Uncle Tony do? I consider myself blessed to have not only Tony but the Gumina family in my life and will always cherish every memory. No goodbyes, rather - until we meet again. - Little Vic
