LORAIN - David G. Foisy, 78, of Lorain, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain in Amherst after a brief illness.
He was born March 23, 1939 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
David graduated from St. Mary High School in Lorain in 1957 and served in the US Army from 1958-1961. He retired from BF Goodrich.
David was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain where he sang in the church choir. He also sang in the Golden Crescent Chorus and the Men of Independence. He enjoyed watching sports, golf, bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Donna (nee Foil); children, Daniel (Kim), David (Marianne "Missy"), Melissa, Tim (Beth), Amy and Jennifer Foisy; grandchildren, Jeremy Pearce, Matthew Pearce (Michelle), Nicole DeLaat (Brian), Miles, Keith, Mari, Christian, Michaela, Vincent, Elizabeth, Gianna, Karolanne, Nick, Kyle, Hailey and Mason Foisy; Brooks Franklin and Baylee and Meah Griffith; one great grandchild; sisters Marian Schnitzler (Bob), Joanne Farr (Dwight), Ken Foisy (Marylou) and Gerry Foisy (Jeanne).
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Georgene Foisy (nee Craft); brothers Tom, John, Ray and Bob Foisy and sister Helen.
The family will receive friends Friday January 19th from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The funeral mass will follow on Friday at 11:00 am with the Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary Food Pantry, 309 7th St, Lorain, OH. 44052.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.

Its been a long time since he told me to walk-off a knee injury during a LCHS football game. Turned out I needed surgery! He was truly a great man and a better mentor.
