To the Armstrong Family - I am constantly reminded of all the fun times I had growing up in Vermilion and the memories of your husband and father. Oh, the times we had. He was truly a great man with a zest for life and a guiding mentor and light to all that knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I credit Jack Armstrong for inspiring me to become a writer as he had our American Literature class writing a story every week in 1958 to turn in on Fridays...when I left his class my junior year, strange to say, I just kept on writing and have been writing "a story a week" the rest of my life. I wish I could thank him for making me work so hard with the pen as a young girl and instilling in me the love of writing and literature. Well, it's never too late. Thank you, Jack.

My best wishes and sincere sympathy to his family,

Mary (Ann) Wakefield Buxton,

Jack was one of my favorite teachers at Vermilion High School (1970-72). My deepest sympathy to the entire Armstrong family.

Deepest sympathy from one of Jack's reluctant but "star" students and Mary Ann's first baby sitter. Mr. Armstrong's insistence that I join the debate team served me well later in life. He was a distinguished teacher and a valued friend. He will be missed profoundly not only by his family and friends, but also by the many, many students whose lives he touched and enhanced.
