Our deepest sympathies from the Cora Ellen Hosler family. We were just informed of Bob's passing today at Avon Oaks. He always had a smile on his face and was always pleasant to our mother. Shame on us for not inquiring sooner about his absence. He is missed.

Coincidently, by surfing on the internet, I found out that Mr Bolen has passed away. By being a foreign exchange student from Holland in 1983-1984 to Avon Lake Ohio, I got to know Mr Bolen as a teacher at Avon Lake High School. I still keep good memories of him. He is one of the American teachers that I keep thinking of every now and then. I wish the family and friends of Mr Bolen a lot of strength.

You were one of my favorite teachers, inspiring me to love literature and the English language. I also will always remember the fantastic MGP productions, for which you were responsible. You were an intrinsic part of my growing-up years. I remember that my mother had a rather risque part in "Mame." I was appalled and you sensed it and helped me to lighten up about it and enjoy! Thank you for everything!

I would love to be up there when you meet my parents!! Please don't tell them how I always seemed to be too sick to go to school on the days I had to give my speech so I could do it in front of you. You caught on very quickly and made me do it in front of the class anyway!! As I look back you were an excellent teacher and I wish I had been a better student. I feel bad for the students that will never know you. May God Bless the Bolen family.

I was a student of Mr. Bolen's in Avon Lake High School for both English and Speech classes. I found Mr. Bolen to be a great teacher and he inspired his students. While I did not participate in any plays for which he directed, I did attend them and found that he got the most out of his performers. He was a great educator and will be missed as a fine man as well.

Dear, Judy, Victoria and Doug, We will miss your dad. He was such an important part of our lives since he taught the five of us and my brother Tim and I had the added enjoyment of teaching with him. He always had a great sense of humor and you and your families should feel proud in having him as your dad. Please accept our most sincere condolences. Back in the days when Doug & I started a life long friendship "Uncle Bob & Aunt Doris" were the most warm & accepting non relatives I ever had. Never a cross word if I showed up with a terrible hang over or went to long without a haircut. (maybe a few words of wisdom) Doug & his sisters were truly blessed to have their parents & they will always have a special place in my heart.

Bob was a true friend who had a wonderful sense of humor and a creative mind. My memories of him and our times together in Avon Lake are priceless. My sympathy goes out to the Bolen family.

When my mother died in 2001, Bob attended the funeral. It was a distinguished thing to do for her children. We benefitted from his teaching and our mother loved the Mighty Goliath Players. Our sympathy goes to his family on their loss.

Many years later and one book to go, but almost through Mr. Bolen's 10th grade reading list. He inspired an unquenchable love of reading. To Judy and the Bolen family, my thoughts are with you.

I, too, have fond memories of Mr. Bolen. The stories he told during class sparked many a discussion, which, of course, took us all away from the "dreaded" classwork. For Mr. Bolen's family, he was truly an inspiration to many of us, his students. We will always be his students.
