Dear Jim....I just returned from a hospital stay and learned of your dad's death. We had grown up together, and I always enjoyed and admired his quick wit and his way with words....quite the poet. Please know that Connie and I are grieving with you in these difficult days. Gordon "Skip" Ward

Leroy was the best friend (and long time "boyfriend") of my dear friend Willi Koharik (Mom K) and he was like family to her daughter & son-in-law and grandson, Penny & Randy and Ian Nemitz.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Leroy several times over the years, and once he and Mom K visited us in Houston during a 100th Bomber Group reunion.
I will never forget how Leroy cherished and cared for Mom K. At her surprise 90th birthday party, he authored and delivered a poem about his Willi that was priceless, humorous, and very touching. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, and especially the Koharik-Nemitz family.
