My deepest sympathy to the Harrigan family. To put it simply, Madaline was a mother to anyone who grew up in Girard, she will be deeply missed.
Thinking of all the times Madaline made me smile.
I remember her smile, her fun and happy bigger than life personality and coming to the grade school to teach us nutrition. I really liked the cooked soybeans she made for us in Mrs Vinze's classroom.
Madaline was such a wonderful woman! She impacted my life in more ways than she will know. She would pick me up for Church and VBS, and always had a hug for me when I would come back from College. Prayers to all her family and friends. She will be missed by many.
Madaline was a true inspiration to generations of children in Girard. She will live on in all of us.
Susan, so very sorry for your loss. Your mom influenced me in many ways as a Girl Scout leader. I remember how she ran Day Camp, Father-Daughter banquets, and just provided us with a wonderful role model. May God bless you and may Madeline rest in peace. Our world will be a lesser place without her. Theresa (James) Babers
I am so sorry for the loss of Madaline. I am also thankful and joyous that I had the pleasure of knowing her. I can truly say that she was the most beautiful person I have ever known. Hats off to you Madaline and thank you for always making me feel special.
Susan, so sorry to hear about your loss...What a special person she was...so glad I got to know her a little better...my thoughts are with you and your family...
The last time I saw Madaline was in 2000.We had an auction for Jim and Marguerite Rhodes estate.Madaline saw a six-legged table(I loved it too but we had no room for it).She sat all day next to it.She told me she was going to have it no matter how much it cost.I would check on her at times during that day, making sure she had water etc.The auctioner finally got to it late that afternoon. She bought it,no one would bid against her.I was very happy she got it and helped her load it up.We send our heart and prayers to the Harrigan family. We have never forgot Madaline and her friendly voice and laugh.Willie Brower and family
Gonna really miss her as she was a very special lady and remember doing camp with her for a few years as a counselor
To the family of Madaline, i send my deepest condolocenced. She was a wonderful lady who helped in some way everyone she came in contact with. God took a great lady home to rest. Susan I went to School with you, i'm so sorry for your loss. Pam (Short) Thurmam.
The first time I met Madaline, was the first day my family went to First Christian Church. She came up to us, we introduced each other, and she said,"I love you all." She will always be remembered.
I'm sorry for your loss, read God's word daily for comfort and strength. (Math 11:28)
what a beautiful and joyous sole that always brought joy to all of us. a strong presence in Girard that will be remembered.
I remember getting cooking lessons from her thru the extension program. I still cook a few of them up for our family. She was such a wonderful person. Every time she was out, you could hear people holler, "Hi Madaline" and she would holler back like you were her best friend. I often wonder if she really did remember everyone...even if not...she always made you feel like you were exactly who she was wanting to see that day!! She was one special lady...and the world would be a better place with more Madaline Harrigan's in the world. Rest in peace dear Madaline...Girard will never be the same without you!
Madaline was a blessing to all who knew her. She paid for my wedding dress material that Juanita Johnson and she made for me. What a wonderful woman and example for good for all who knew her.
Growing up just down the road from the Harrigans, Madaline was a big part of my life. I know of only one thing she failed at--teaching me how to sew. My own children have fond memories of cooking at the courthouse with Madaline--eggs in frame was famous at the Dyson house for years. She represented Girard famously. God bless you all.
Will always remember you Madeline, RIP
Thinking and praying during your time of sorrow. I'm sure she is celebrating in heaven with everyone.
Marilyn and family -- Madaline was an inspiration to all and a friend to so many. She never met a stranger. The last time I spent quality time with her was at the Mengarelli farm making cappeletti. What a joy to have known her. God bless you all.
Madaline was one of the sweetest and kindest women i have ever met...as a kid growing up in Girard..she was always there when us kids needed her wisdom...she was a great woman and i will never forget her..and ill always love her..RIP Madaline..and God bless you
I visited your mom in assisted living two years ago when I was visiting from N. Carolina and she was still "Madaline" but without the blackberry scratches. After Bill died, I enjoyed lunching with her at East Side. Timid and shy, she was not!
Thoughts and prayers go out to this wonderful family. I just loved being involved with the Girard Fall Festival and having Madaline lead up the cake walk!! She got everyone moving around the circle! Bless you all.
What a wonderful person Madaline was. She will be greatly missed by the entire community. Madaline made everyone she met feel comfortable and never met a stranger. My condolences to the entire family.
I met Madaline for the first time at cooking classes at the Hepler Community Building back in the 1980's and she has remained a friend ever since. She always spoke whenever she saw you no matter where you were. Always greeted you with "how the h___ are you?" That was Madaline!
I remember Madeline when I was in 2nd grade. She came to help us each plant a bright pink petunia in a cup. She said, "First you put this crap (dirt) in the cup. We were 8, so were shocked that she used that word. She said, "It's OK, that is what it is." That just gave me a licence to us that word, and from that day on, my very favorite color of petunia are the very bright pink ones and I always thought of her when I saw them anywhere. RIP Madeline.
IF THE WORLD NOW WAS FULL OF " MADELINE'S " WE WOULD ALL BE A MUCH BETTER NATION TODAY.... I'M SETTING HERE THINKING OF MY TIMES THROUGH LIFE WITH HER AN IT IS A GREAT FEELING . SHE WILL BE MISSED IN MANY CIRCLES !! R.I.P. MY FRIEND.....
My sympathies to the Thom family. Even though you know it is coming, the loss still hurts. I picture Madaline being the spunkiest angel to ever enter the gates to heaven. What a terrific lady she was! Cherish your memories until you meet with her again. I'm so happy that our son Scott got to be a part of her family and experience this wonderful lady. She had a beautiful soul. Sending hugs your way.
I member Madaline from early days at the pool to summertime cooking classes. What a witty and lovely lady. You always knew if she was in the room! Thoughts and prayers to all the family, what a peach she was.
What wonderful memories I will always have of Madaline. Bless all of you!
What can a person say except, "Madeline was Madeline!" She was a great friend to my parents, Augie & Cleo Mengarelli; always made everyone around her feel comfortable and accepted; our family loved her! I know God's grace will sustain your family through this time.
