Jimmy was at Penn when I was there...and those of us leading WXPN were the financial backers of his drum suite performance at Irvine Auditorium. We fronted the money and after the event he paid the radio station back completely. It was really fabulous...I dont think anyone recorded it. Someone should have. Just last year, Jimmy was kind enough to do a telephone interview about Rotary and polio for me on Pathways to Service on WDEL Radio here in Wilmington DE...a weekly program about Rotary and other service organizations. It may still be archived but if not and you would like to hear it I can send you a pod cast. He will be greatly missed by many and there are also those of us who just knew and loved him over the years from afar and we will miss him. Carol Ann Trimble Weisenfeld

Ginette, I'm truly sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing. I cherish the experiences I had playing 2nd trombone in the OSO ('68-'97) under his expressive baton. I sent him a letter commending him on transforming the OSO form a "regional" orchestra to major status without making massive personnel changes as many other new conductors do in the early years of their tenure. He was truly a "gentleman and a scholar". May your family gain solace from the memories of the contributions that Jimmy has made to enrich the lives of all who knew him and heard him speak or conduct.
