I was so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. We worked together on the GTW for many years and I considered Paul one of my dearest friends. He was a great guy.

Mary
I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Paul but he has a great mother who prayed for him daily. It has to be hard to lose a son, I could not imagine losing one of my sons. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Estol and I loved you as one of our dearest friends since 1989 and we will miss you until we see you again.

We were shocked and devastated to learn of Paul's sudden passing. Unfortunately for us, we were not made aware of Paul's death until the late afternoon on Saturday after the visitiation and service was already over. We are sad that we didn't get to pay our final respects and gain some closure. We had been friend's of Paul's since 1989 but Paul and I had grown up in Norton Shores within miles of each other and we often spoke of how we must have crossed paths many times over the years before we actually met. I will miss our weekly phone conversations and our close bond. The last time we spoke was August 31st. and I had rold Paul that my sister from Florida was coming to Muskegon for a four-day visit after four years so we hadn't expected to talk until after she left. That was the night you died. I ahd called your home but no answer. I have to saty that Paul a very generous and caring person and will be missed by so many many people whose lives he touched. Paul had a sign above his door that read "You are a stranger here but once" and that says it all. Paul took in and rescued three cats: "Peanuts" who belonged to an elderly lady who died, "Morris" who had been left locked in an abandoned sun porch by callous and cruel owners and "D.L." the little female who found her way to Paul's front door. I am hoping that someone rescues these cats just as Paul had. Paul loved trains and everything to do with WWII and we often talked about Paul's chilhood and career with the Grand Trunk railroad. When Paul nearly lost his life a decade ago and was hospitalized for over four months - we wrote Paul every single day and Paul told me he never forgot that kindness. Paul was a wonderful cook and used to throw Holiday parties for those who didn't have a place to go. Paul gave food and produce to many needy people and was always there for his friends. I know that many people are hurting over losing Paul just as we are and my condolences go out to EVERYONE who knew and whose life was touched by Paul. Please rest in peace my friend and I hope you are no longer in pain and are happy forever. You will never be forgotten and the world is a sadder and much lonlier place without you. We will never ever forget you.
We loved you now and forever.

your friends,
Michael E. Wilcox and Estol D. Crabtree
