STERENBERG, MRS., JOANNE Muskegon Mrs. Joanne L. Sterenberg, age 87, passed away Friday morning, January 20, 2017, surrounded by her family. Joanne was born April 30, 1929 in Muskegon to Henry and Johanna (VanderMolen) VanderLeest. She married Harold Charles Sterenberg in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 2011. Joanne had worked in production control at Clarke Floor Machine for many years prior to her retirement. She had been a long time member of Allen Ave. Christian Reformed Church. Joanne loved the time spent with her family and will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, aunt, and friend. Survivors include her children, Brian (Diane) Sterenberg of Muskegon and Lisa Jo (Vernon) Wheeler of Murrysville, PA; 4 grandchildren, Emily (Matt) Myers of Export, PA, Ryan (Emily) Sterenberg of Grand Rapids, Chelsea (Jonathan) French of Charlotte, NC, and Zach Wheeler of Charlotte, NC; 4 great-grandchildren, Noah French, Grea Myers, Emmalyn French, and Wyatt Myers; sister-in-law, Barb (VanderLeest) Scanlon; and several nieces and nephews. Joanne was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Berdina VanDyke and Maxine Singleton; and brother, Cornelius "Bob" VanderLeest. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held 2 pm Friday, May 19. 2017 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens (2188 Remembrance Dr.) with Pastor Mike Haefner officiating. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Heartland Hospice. Arrangements by The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565.
