Sometimes in life there are people who you don't get to see every day or even every year for that matter, but the impact they have in your life can be profound. Most of the time those people don't even realize just how important their presence is to others. For quite some time I have wanted to acknowledge this one very special woman but I could never quite seem to get the words right... I still can't get them right... and I only regret that I never took the time to share with her how special she always made me feel.

Growing up I was the quieter one when in social settings (hard for some to believe I know)... and I felt like the black sheep. I would sit back and stay behind the scenes, perfectly content having my older sister fulfill the role of social butterfly. But this one special person always came up to me with her big warm smile and gave me the biggest, tightest hug and would go out of her way to just sit with me. Knowing I wanted to be a teacher, and being a teacher herself, she would spend time with me giving me great advice about college, my dream profession, and giving me the confidence to pursue it. She put all my fears to rest and gave me confidence that overpowered my self doubt. There are so many memories that come flooding to my mind when I think about her... memories that I am so blessed to have... but my most favorite are those talks we used to have on the beach in Ocean City, MD. She just always made me feel so special and worthy. Sometimes she just made me feel period.

I am so fortunate that God brought our two families together... long before I was ever born. I am overcome with emotion today and feel so very selfish because I was but a minute part of her life. But that just goes to illustrate just how powerful her presence was. Every time I think about her I can only help but to think of how her big bright smile literally lit up the room the moment she walked in. Every time. And how very special and loved she made each and every single one of us feel. She taught us all how to open up to others, how to embrace the world's beauty, and to love big. She wasn't just a teacher in the classroom. She was a teacher of life... and she taught us all until the very end. The world truly is a better place because she was in it... I was just lucky enough to be in hers.

My friend Sandy,I will always miss you .
September 22, 2014
our hearts and minds.
Sandy wanted/needed to be a positive impact on the world and she did! She touched almost everyone she met. I am not sure if it was her big smile or her caring personality. Sandy card for and took care of her family, her extended family, friends, animals and her community-no easy task.
Sandy may have thought she didn't do enough. San-you did a great job. We wish you could have stayed longer to continue your positive influence.
We love and miss you every day. Love Shirlee and Gary

October 28, 2013
I met Sandy while we were in Germany in 1989. She was such full of life and just an awesome person to know. I hate that I never reconnected to her in person after we found each other a couple of years ago after a 11 year break of friendship but it was like we never lost touch. She will truly be missed on this rock but she will be looking over all her friends and loving family members. Keep dancing Sandy!
October 23, 2013
I was very sad to hear the news of Sandy's passing. As a group leader at Ft. Monmouth Youth Services she made a positive impact on my life. She challenged and supported her students in leadership development, but more importantly she cared about those she worked with. Something I try to do every day in my role as a school administrator. I'm sure she had a similar impact on so many more individuals.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Wagner family.
October 23, 2013
My sister Sandy was the most loving and caring person to ever live. Whenever we talked her conversation would start with we had a rough week and then she would tell me the drama that happened in the community and what should was doing to help. She also told us so many positive happy stories about her Cedarville family-so she lived your tragedies and your happiness-and we learned to know most of you thru these stories. Sandy's caring did not end with people, she would care for any lost or injured animal.
Sandy saw life thru rose-colored glasses and always had more dreams and goals than most people. She lived many of those dreams by her travel (Germany, England, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Africa. She was in Mexico for the Monarch butterflies and it made a life changing effect on her.
Sandy was our family hippie. She was a free-spirited and lived her life with some structure, but changed the rules when she could. Sandy's birthday is in December and mine and Cathy's is in August, so she asked as a kid to have an un-birthday party in the summer, and we did!
Sandy was also driven to do all and finish all. We always laughed because at a zoo or museum Sandy would read all the info and then read it to us. Sooo the museum and zoo trips were always very long. Once in Ocean City Maryland we went to Assateague to ride bikes. Even though it was summer we saw a guy with long sleeves and a full mosquito net-we should have gotten the clue. We unloaded our bikes and within a few minutes the bugs attacked. Most of us quit, but Sandy made her family finish and guess what they were fine.
Sandy's house and mind was sometimes cluttered, but that made her Sandy. Whenever the caller ID was Sandy, we knew we were in for a long conversation, but so looked forward to her calls. So many of us spent Halloween and Christmas party's at the Wagner's house. Not only was there so much food, there were so many decorations. She motivated our family to have Christmas trees in most of the rooms in our house, including the bathrooms and bedrooms.
Sandy just seemed to attract people without even opening her mouth and then when she did talk they were sucked in. I remember being on the Keyport boardwalk with my sisters and people walking by and starting conversations with her, even though we were all right there. Why-I am not sure but she just had this aura around her that people knew she was good. Once she was stuck in a blizzard at a rest area coming from Penn State and met tons of people and left with phone numbers and addresses. Just recently in Ocean City she started a conversation with a mean looking man at kayaking, who opened up to her and she left crying because he was a 2 time veteran. In the last few months we introduced to our server in Atlantic City, and Sandy hugged her before we did and they set up plans to go dancing.
Our family like most families reminese and here are some of the stories that always come up:
. Sandy always seemed to forget her pocketbook and/or credit card whenever we went out (even on vacations) and she would just turn to Gary, and he would say it's all good. No problem
.Every year the day after Thanksgiving the 4 sisters would go on our Black Friday shopping trip and every year Sandy did something for us to talk about at dinner-always losing her list, getting excited over cup holders, filling the cars with so many items we have to call for another car.
.Even though Sandy would love to travel all the time, sometimes responsibilities would get in the way. But she would always let us take Cassidy and Nick on vacation with us-even though she missed them terribly. And we were so grateful to be able to share our vacations with them. I was looking thru pictures this week and realized there were a lot of trip with Cassidy and Nick, that Sandy was not at. But of course before we left for vacation, she gave them Disney directions, when you go to Animal Kingdom go right to the safari. So of course mini_Sandy (Cassidy) had us racing through the park, to no line at the safari.
.When Sandy lived in Germany she would come home for frequent visits because she missed her family so much. On one of their visits she took Matt on his 1st date-he was 5 years old. They even dressed up in a dress and suit!
.Sandy and then Cassidy and Nick always said our prayer at Thanksgiving-she insisted even though food may already be in our mouths.
Every time Sandy would forget something she said it was because of mad-cow disease from Germany. Maybe it was?
Sandy, Pete, Cassidy, and Nick had waffles and ice cream for breakfast on their birthdays and now many of us in the family follow that tradition.
The Wagner's also have the tradition of wearing the same pajamas on Christmas, and wearing them all day. Every year we look forward to them coming up North in their pjs. This is a tradition the rest of us did not decide to follow.
We will miss Sandy every day, but I am sure she is at peace and living out the rest of her dreams in heaven. She also knows her job is not done and she will be taking care of us from the other side. Love you Sandy.
