Dear all, I have finally had the courage to go back and read all of these wonderful notes and messages. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all. The boys and I are so blessed to have such wonderful friends that will help me keep Todd's legacy alive.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Amanda, the boys and the whole McGovern family. I was fortunate enough to spend even a short time working with Todd, his spirit and will to live has left a memorable impression forever.
Dear Linda and Tom -
Ours deepest sympathies to all your family. We think of Todd and all our children growing up and playing on Chipmunk Ct.
What wonderful times we had.
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Tom and Evy Riedhammer
Dear Tom and Linda,
Please extend our deepest sympathies to Todd's wife Susie and the rest of the family. It has been a great sadness to learn of his passing. We will cherish our memories of happier times watching Todd grow up to become the wonderful adult he was.
I can still visualize the boys playing ball and street hockey in front of our houses on Chipmunk Court. It seems like that was an eternity ago.
Tom and Barbara Olivero
Linda,Susan and I would like to thank family and friends for all your help, encouragement, kind thoughts and prayers. We can't begin to tell you how comforting it was with the painful loss of our beloved son and brother Todd. Thank you all so much.
Tom, Linda and Susan McGovern
We are so sorry to hear about Todd's death. We have known you for so long. It just seemed like he would always be around. We know that in our hearts and the hearts of many others. he will be.
In the eight years you were together, as husband and wife, you accomplished so much that strengthened, not only you two as a couple, but as an example for others, who are going through similar hardships. But most amazingly, you had the foresight to set a way in which William and Andrew will always be able to remember their father. They will be able to identify with SEAS IT as a legacy from him to them. The stories you will be able to tell of his strength; of continuing to exercise in hopes of helping him survive; his willingness to try any protocols that were available; and, of course, his love for you, which radiated from him to you, even if you were not physically together. These aspects of his life are amazing. Through the boys, Todd will live and through you they will remember and love.
Susan and Alan Leffler
I don't know what heroes are if they are not people like Todd and Amanda--and their families-- from the day of Todd's diagnosis. I plan to share this story of courage with my children when they are old enough to understand that even in the most overwhelming circumstances, hope and hard work can change outcomes. Our family sends condolences and love to Todd's family and his miracle sons.
My deepest sympathies go out to the McGovern family, his friends, old and new, and Todd's community. We were all so lucky to have had the honor of knowing such a great guy. May the fond memories we all have of "Gov Man" bring a smile to our face and may we crank the music when we hear a track from "Jock

I can still picture Gov chasing down impossible-to-get-to fly balls in center field, making it look easy with that huge grin on his face. Todd was an inspiration and leader from the moment I met him as a freshman baseball player at Colby until the last time I saw him, cheering me and the rest of the team on at a SeasIt run in Burlington, VT.
Rest in peace Gov. My deepest condolensces to Amanda, your boys, and the entire McGovern family.
Todd's courage and determination inspired all of us, and my son Carter McDonnell loved Todd and all that he stood for. All good thoughts and support to you and your boys Amanda. Love, Richard.
With deepest sympathy to the McGovern family. Todd was a great friend and teammate at Colby. He was a born leader and had an inner confidence that let him shine in any situation. One game against Williams in which I started, my nerves must have been obvious. Gov came right over to me after warm-ups and said, "You're gonna be great and I'm going to be right there supporting you!"...and he was. All the best to Amanda and their two boys.
Mr. & Mrs. McGovern, Sue and Amanda,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Reading all of these comments it is obvious that Todd is an inspiration to all who knew him. I remember Todd as a kid coming over to my house to hang out with my brother Mike. Always happy and always with a grin. Years later, after I moved to Florida, I skated out for the opening faceoff for a game. The opposing center is staring at me with a huge familiar grin. It took a second or two to register that it was Todd. I hadn't seen Todd in a few years to that point. When we hung out after the game it felt like we had never lost touch. One of the true "good guys." Todd will be missed by many.
Frank DiMarco, Jr.
my deepest sympathy and condolences
Tom and Linda and Susan,
How well we remember Todd as a young man playing ice hockey. We are deeply saddened to know of his passing. Michael often spoke of Todd's incredible strength and courage throughout his illess. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.
My condolences to the entire McGovern family. Todd (Gov) was a great teammate and leader. I have so many great memories of Todd and our time together at Colby. The one that stands out most was the game against Princeton. We were considerable underdogs, obviosly, but that didnt matter to Gov. No. 21 put the team on his shoulders and carried us the entire game. After graduating, our paths didn't cross much, but it sounds like Gov continued to do the same....putting his "team" on his shoulders and perserving no matter the odds or challenges. Gov21 will live forever in all of us.
Upon meeting Todd for the first time one knew they were in the company of a very specil person. His incredible energy, incredible smile and Todd's amazing capacity to connect with fellow human beings will be sorely missed by all who were blessed by Todd touching their lives.
Todd was quick to bring a laugh and always had a smile during his years on Mayflower Hill. He was quite an impressive young man, right to the end.
The Colby community is incredibly saddened to learn of Todd's passing. What a courageous story, he made a real difference. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
Our hearts are feeling the pain of the family, in losing such a fine, loving young man, husband, father & son. May you feel comfort & peace in knowing he is safe at home...and in the loving arms of God. You are all in our prayers.
I remember trying to get a hit off the lefty pitcher in Little League and later on catching up with Todd after college working for the same company. You are a true inspiration and will be missed by many and I am glad to have known you.
It has been many years since I have seen Todd, however I will always remember his smile, light hearted nature and genuineness . He is truly an inspiration. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family.
He is a good example for all of us to follow one day at a time. My sympathy to his family
I am writing on behalf of Jim. I was so sorry to hear about Todd. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I know how hwartbroken Jim would be if I could tell him. He is currently fighting his own battle-in the ICU at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Ct., on a Ventilator and heavily sedated. His kidneys have shut down and dialysis was started yesterday. Please pray for him as we are all praying for you and your family. Sincerely,
To Todd's Family and dearest Amanda and those adorable boys, We are so sad to hear that Todd has passed - he was an incredible inspiration to all around him, the positive hopeful way he battled his cancer. He was such an incredibly strong and wonderful man with so much will. I'm sure those boys will have such a strong reflection of their dad, with him following their every step. All our love, thoughts and prayers, Emily and Drew Johnston
Mr & Mrs McGovern, Sue & Amanda,
You had an amazing son, brother, husband, friend, teammate & competitor. It's been far too long since I last saw Todd, but as I read all of these comments and those on Facebook, its incredible the amount of people Todd touched and the impact he had on their lives. Every childhood memory I have of Todd, whether it was hockey, baseball or just hanging out, is filled with fun, laughter and happiness. We are all blessed for having had those times with him and undoubtedly we will never meet another person like him again.
My thoughts are prayers are with you at this difficult time. RIP Todd
Dear Amanda and family,

Dear Linda, Tom, Susan and Amanda...It was a joy to watch Todd on the hockey rink all those years ago, and it was wonderful to have the McGovern Family for neighbors. Linda and Tom, we wish we could be there if only to hug you each. Susan and your family, we wish there were words that would help you. Amanda, while we never had the opportunity to meet you, we know how loving and supportive a partner you were to Todd. Treasure those babies you and Todd joyfully brought into this world.
We are in Florida for the winter and cannot comfort you in person...but please know that we are thinking about all of you and sending you our love and our prayers.
My sincere condolences. Todd lived down the hall from me at Colby when we were both freshmen, and he always struck me as a natural leader. The way he handled himself through his battle is very inspiring. I'm truly saddened to hear of his passing. His whole family is in our thoughts and prayers.
We are so heartbroken to hear about Todd's passing. His journey has had a tremendous impact on my life and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have known him . You and the boys along with your families will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Very sorry to read of Todd's passing. My deepest sympathy & condolences to the McGovern family.
Todd and his friends lived in my dorm basement at Colby when I was a freshman. Todd was always outgoing and kind to me, very inclusive to all, and I always remembered his genuine pleasant nature and interest in other people. We had some lovely chats in the Colby athletic training facility when prepping for our respective practices. I was so saddened to learn of his passing and his courageous battle over the past several years. My heart goes out to your family. What a lovely legacy of kindness and courage to leave to his sons.
Dearest Tom & Linda & Susan, our hearts are with you. Our prayer is that your grief might move through you gently. Love never dies.
My sincere condolences to Todd's parents, sister, wife and sons. I am truly sorry for your loss. I didn't know Todd as an adult but during our childhood he was happy, fun-loving and confident and, made a lasting impression on those around him. I will keep you all in my prayers.
I met Todd while working at Volt. He was so happy and talked about his Wife and how they met. He always made me laugh with his dry sense of humor. He was an inspiration and even though I only knew Todd for a brief time in my life, I will remember him always and miss him.
Todd was my friend & my travel companion to our men's league hockey games.
I never met someone who was as courageous as Todd. He never quit, kept a positive attitude and loved life to the fullest. I'm sorry for your loss.
I am sorry to hear of Todd's passing. I remember him from my time at Colby. He was a good kid when I met him, and a good man when he left there. My prayers go out to his family and other friends.
I was playing against Todd in a Little League game (11 years old) one day. I hit a ball into shallow right field. I was certain it would be a hit. The problem was that Todd was playing first base that inning. He simply turned and ran back hard on the ball and caught the ball over his right shoulder. Turned my Texas Leaguer into an easy out. Amazing catch, amazing family, amazing man...God Bless you and your family. My deepest sympathies.
Dear Tom and Linda
My mom, Helen McCarrick read this today and along with my wife Marion we all want to say how sorry we are for your great loss. I never knew Todd but my mom did and we have prayed for him and your family over the years through your Dad and Mom.
I am not sure we will make the service but will try. My mom is in assisted living now, so it is hard.
We will continue to pray for your family and if you need anything please don't hesitate to all on me.
I never met Todd but knew he must be as determined, positive, & full of life to be Amanda's husband as she's such a ball of positive energy. It's wonderful that your memory & wonderful traits will continue with your sons. As tough as it is, I know Amanda will continue the legacy the two of you began. My thoughts are with you all.
